Hi,
My name is Little Ugly, now you are probably wondering why I am sporting Old Glory's colors and why I have such a funny name. Well in 1975, I caught the eye of a gentleman by the name of Harold (Frosty) May. At this point I did not look too good. So after Frosty did some wheeling and dealing he traded an eight H.P. Cub Cadet and $100.00 cash just for me. I became the fifth in a family of Jeeps. As I came down Frosty's driveway on a trailer and in bits and pieces in the back of a pickup, Mrs. Jill Frost (Micki May) laid her eyes on me for the first time. The first words I heard come out of her mouth were "Ugly!"
During the winter months, Frosty and his son Terry (Weepy Jeep) Henderson worked really hard on me. I am a 1942 Ford GPW. What Frosty and Weepy did to me was unbelievable. When they finished, I was two wheel drive with 1968 DJ axles and a 4:73 Posi-Trac. I am powered by a 350 H.P. Chevrolet V8. My transmission is a 1961 Chevrolet three-speed overdrive. I have comfortable Fiat bucket seats. I also have a VW's steering column and a Packard's ignition switch.
By now it is 1976 and this is a year for celebration. I wanted to remember this celebration so I was painted red, white, and blue. Now that I was done, I was the smallest in the family, so the name Little Ugly was given to me. I really enjoyed my new life. I was the run about for ice cream, hot dogs, and Sunday drives. 1978 was a very dark and saddened year for me, as Frosty passed away. Things did not turn out too bad as Weepy took over for him. We did a lot of traveling. I was getting tired and it seemed as though Weepy liked to stick his foot in the carburetor a little too much, my paint was fading also. I was then parked in a dark and dreary shed.
There in the shed is where I sat until the year 2000. Weepy was now about the same age as Frosty. When he took a look at me, he thought that it was time that he brought me back to life. With the help of a friend, Ralph Becker, I went under the recuperation process of getting sanded and paint gunned. Weepy wanted to keep me red, white, and blue So when Ralph & Weepy finished I looked like an American Flag Boy did I love the new paint job! Weepy put some new seals in my transmission and rear end and put disc brakes on my wheels. Weepy dropped a 1957 Chevrolet 283 Power Pack, balanced and bored .060 over, into my engine compartment. Boy do I sound nice! Terry (Weepy), along with Sherry (his wife) and Jake (his son) now enjoy me like the run about Harold (Frosty) and Jill (Mrs. Frost) did. I am glad to be alive and flying the red, white, and blue again.
