2009 COLORADO ISUZONE.ORG MEET - PAGE 2!!!
This is my 92 Storm GSi that i had recently acquired.
It was kinda weird how i came across this car. I used to work for a cable company where one of my supervisors had quit working at the company. This was in 2004.
Fast forward to 2008. I move to a different cable company in 2006 (i would rather not say which company so i don't get flamed for anything). one random day, i'm answering calls (call center work) and one of the calls i got seemed a little strange. the name was familiar... her voice was familiar... i just had to ask - it was her! so i sent her an email and all that other jive, and she one day sent me an email asking me if i was still into the Geo Storms and all.. of course i am, and i told her.
well, we worked out a deal and about a month later, i purchased the car for $850.
anyways, enough blabbing from me - on to the pics!
please, pardon the blue tint on the camera, sometimes it's retarded like that. OH, and please pardon the bird droppings. once i get the other two running, they'll be clean :)
before i purchased it:
the fenders on both sides are banged up a little, and the bra was in dire need to be removed. also, there were some bumper stickers i needed to get rid of. interior is also messed up, i need to figure out a way to clean up the stains. Also, those little screw cap things on the sides of the back pieces - they normally screw into a little metal thing inside the seat, however after looking into it, mine were snapped off in the threading where it screws into the seat frame. SO - i have to figure out how to fix that.
i got the car washed and waxed, and cleaned out the interior as much as i could, in the following pics.
I got a replacement fog light for the one that was missing when i purchased it! I'm just lucky it wasn't busted. I have replaced the passenger mirror since the housing was broken, and attempted to replace the driver side mirror that was cracked - but was unsuccessful. However, i shouldn't have a problem finding another one to install in it's place.
I finally did something else with the car, i put in a short-ram style intake (pipe with a filter on the end of it). It sounds pretty good now! My next thing on this car will be the exhaust, then coil-overs.
after i purchased it:
Took her up in the mountains after a day of cleaning.
A while back i had installed a hot air intake. It improved the sound and responsiveness of the motor pretty decently considering it's just a ram-air intake. This is a pic that was just taken, so it's dirty. One of these days i'll get a K&N to replace the Ractive filter.
I also decided that should anything on this car ever break or need replaced, that it would be upgraded if at all possible. About 2 weeks ago, my muffler blew up. the sheet of rust on the inside had vibrated loose, and covered the exit pipe, so all the air had nowhere to go but out.
So i figured what the heck. I'll just go get a 2.5" catback.
I also got a straight through muffler to give it that deep rumbling sound. Here's the end result of the installation of the exhaust:
Up next on the agenda is upgrading the suspension. The rear struts are blown and the fronts sit too high for my liking. Over the next month or so i plan on getting all new struts with coil-overs and strut tower bars. Before i lower the car to the desired height, i will need to tap out the dents on the fenders where the previous owner had bottomed out, then re-paint them. It's like this on both sides.
Oh, and it appears that the roads in Colorado Springs SUCK!!! I hit a pothole so big yesterday that it bent one of the rims pretty bad. I'm glad i have a spare rim in case this one is not able to be repaired. going to try to order some struts for the car over the weekend.
And for some stupid reason i keep forgetting to remove that stupid dolphin heart sticker on the windshield.
I'll try to keep photos posted of the suspension work as it's getting done.
If you're looking to mod your storm or impulse, just check out RobieTheRobot.com for more info. he sells pistons, coil-overs, strut tower bars, cold air intakes, etc.
