Well here it is: Project "ANGRIER".

So let's see now... 500+ hp, 600 mile range, A/C and Cruise Control coupled with slot car handling and a 200 mph top end. Say hello "ANGRIER" everyone.

This car went from concept to completion in less than 1 year. Last year we did the Bullrun TV show and the Bullrun Rally and in the process we learned a thing or two about what it takes to really be competitive and what the tricks of the trade were.

Step 1.: To be competitive in any type of rally event you 3 main things. Speed, Range and reliability. All of these things needed to be addressed before we even began to build this car. First and foremost was the question: "What are we going to build?". We knew that with whatever we built we need to up the ante' on the '68 Charger and that only thing that would do that would be either a Dodge or Plymouth winged car. Now since I am a die-hard Charger fan the Daytona was the obvious choice (sorry Plymouth), so work then commenced on finding the right donor car.

Step 2.: Concept. Now, to build anything whether it be a toaster or a car you need to first visualize what it is you are looking for. For this I turned to David Stahl (dstahl01@lycos.com), a fellow Charger enthusiast. I emailed Dave and told him I was wanted to build the meanest looking Dodge Daytona that ever rolled on God's green earth and asked if he'd do some renderings for me... well did he ever! We went through about 6 to 8 different renditions of the Daytona before coming to a halt the on this one>

I wanted the car to look completely murdered out with flat black paint a gloss wing and added speed touches to boot. Basically I wanted a rolling version of the ultimate automotive middle finger. Dave flippin' nailed it.

Step 3.: Finding the donor car...

Building a car is like anything else... if your going to do it, do it right. That meant finding a really clean donor car. Dodgecharger.com is probably the best resource on the internet for anything and everything pertaining to '66-'74 Dodge Chargers. The members there are some of the best anywhere and they're knowledge and know how is second to none.

Now right around the time that I was looking for a car a gentleman by the name Jim Bossman in the great state Indiana had decided that he wanted to put his '69 Charger SE up for sale. The car was an older restoration and needed to be redone at this point thus making it the right car for my project. Not only had I known about this car but I had been following the build and modifications that Jim had been doing for quite sometime. The engine was stout 471 stoker motor attached to a Keisler 5-speed transmission, on top of that the car was also A/C and Cruise control... PERFECT!! A deal was made and I flew out to Indiana from NYC and drove that bad boy 900 miles home.
