This is my 81 924 turbo. I got it from a co-worker for less than $1000. It only has 55,000 miles, with two small dents, and other minor exterior blemishes. I have spent the last year +, working to get it working, which at this time, is not yet a reality. I have found that parts are hard to come by, but found a company that has most of what I need, aftermarket. I am still having a fuel delivery issue, but may have found the problem to be the external fuel pump, which will be replaced by the end of June 08. As you can see by the pics, I need to consider a new paint job.

I spent a few weeks working on putting the engine back together, as the previous owner had a lot of it tore down. I did this by trial and error, but confermed my placement of all items with schematics from Walters porshce of Riversid Ca.

It ran for a week or so, but was not really able to drive, which helped me find other issues that I fixed, such as fuel leaks, oil leaks, and other issues. It was during this time, that I found that the fuel pump came from a 924 non turbo, which as I was told, was putting out only 54lbs of pressure, when 120 was needed. I am not sure about the large pressure requirement, as I am new to this.
I have some work to do on the interior, as you can see by this pic. As you can also see, I have the steering wheel off, so I can get to the electrical better, but it is not the standard type. It is a three post type, with a round center, like the ones on the 911. I found by reading a posting on "how it works", that this was offered on the 924 turbo's.

I was told that this leather interior was offered on the Carrera GT, and that this was called the Carrera GT interior package. I have not been able to find any information on this, but would like to know about it. How many 924's were offered with this type of interior, or was this as rare as my seller states? I hope to get to driving this car by the end of June. Any insite as to parts supplies, and other helpful information, would be of great use to me.

Thank you all for your postings. I was part of another Porsche fan site, in which I never got postings. You have shown that there are true enthusiasts out there. I hope to post pics of my progress. I checked the hatch area for the code sheet that 924Guy mentioned, but this sheet was most likly gone long ago, but I will check the site anyway. I will be looking at all the site give me, as I welcome all the help I can get. Again, thank you all for your postings.

Looks like a great start! 924.org has all the info you could ever want. there should be an option code sheet under the carpet in the hatch, between the tail lights, you can decode the numbers at the site above to give you a bit more info on the way your 931 left the factory.

mid america motorworks and also performance products are good sources of hard to find parts for porsches. my dad had a 942S and he has an 84 911 targa 3.2 right now. those 2 catalogs/websites have tons of parts for old porsches
