This is the process, from junker to restomod.
I have been upgrading the mechanical over the past year or so, and we got to take it out a few times and have fun with it...
Tear down and painting begins. At the factory it was assembled and then painted. There were places where there had NEVER been any paint, and quite a bit of it had primer only in the joints:
Stripping isn't fun...
...but painting is! Everything was painted, then reassembled, so that every bit of it is painted, this time. The paint is a custom color that I mixed on the laundry table.
Reassembly is very rewarding.
The engine and electrical were restored too, the electrical was completely replaced, harnesses wrapped by hand. No one makes a radiator for these, anymore, so I had to get one for a Jeep CJ and modify it and build mounts to put it in. I had to have the windshield custom cut at a glass shop...
Insuring it and getting to drive it again is a hoot!
