1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu
Muscle & Hot Rod Enthusiasts
I have created a CarDomain Group where enthusiasts can share their love for hot rods, classic and muscle cars. Share photos, links, ask questions or create general chatter in the forum, find others interested in buying or selling classic autos or parts, and so on. It's a public group, anyone may join and most of all have fun!
I bought this Chevelle on June 12, 2008. I came across an ad for it online but it took about a week before I could see the car. When I arrived the owner opened the garage door, got in the car and fired it up: "Sold! "
It has a 3999289-code 1973 454-ci with a TH-400 automatic. From what I can remember, the engine retains most of its original internals, with the exception of a new camshaft and valves. The car was originally painted Olympic Gold and had a 250-ci 6-cylinder and 2-speed Powerglide transmission. The car now has 396-ci engine call-outs on the fenders, which was the largest factory-installed Chevelle engine available that year (unless one went through COPO to sneak in a 427). It's correct for the year and people surprised by the 396 call-outs are even more so when they're told it actually has a 454.
The car also recorded a best time of 13.6-seconds @ over 102-mph on the 1/4-mile with uncorked headers and the previous cam.
