So this a '71 Mercury Comet... It's too bad I don't have any pictures of the car when I first purchased it, But I can give some back story and a couple of older photos.
I bought this car in July of 2006... It was essentially a one owner vehicle and while the car ran beautifully (started up on first crank, idled smoothly), the body had a couple of dents and dings and some surface rust. Upon picking it up, we learned that the stock heads had received some work (larger valves, milling, etc.) But are not sure as to the specifics, I'm such a lazy ass I never went to the machine shop that did the work, even though it's only 20 minutes away from where I live. However, since then the car has received an extensive amount of work, I've rebuilt the transmission... Twice(got screwed the first time.) I put "Transgo transmission" because there wasn't a place to put what kinda shift kit you have. That's not to say I am a checkbook hot rodder, by no means am I that, I'm just a 21 year old guy that does what he can, and if I don't have the tools or machinery to perform the work required, then I'll pay a mechanic and won't eat until next paycheck :P Well, the 302's been rebuilt, and has since received speed pro flat tops so she's puttin out about 10.0:1 compression according to my superior brain(yeah right probably more like 9.5:1 lol). I've put some Hooker 6901's on her, with Mr.Gasket cut outs that sound bad as hell. She has a whole assortment of Edelbrock goodies such as a 650 carb, intake manifold, etc. I'm running a PerTronix unit in the dizzy since I hate points. So I decided to go with a Thumpr camshaft and will be runnin a 2800 stall and 4.11s once I save up enough money for that. By my estimates (and with a little help from the guys at Dick Wagoner over on Redondo Beach Blvd) We're lookin at about 250-265 at the crank. This car ran a best of 13.9 down at the dock area in Long Beach at 3 A.M. with 2 buddies standing at each end of a quarter mile marker with a stopwatch and another flaggin me(not Terminal Island or anything, that place was closed down, duh. This was on the street LOL)
The interior for example has some seats pulled out for an 80's Toyota Tercel... This is a pretty old pic as everything is black now. Rears are front buckets out of a 90s Saturn, the tags on their brackets said "Corbeau" so I'm not sure if they're aftermarket or what..
If you look at the main pic of my car, you'll see that it has a large black stripe, that stripe extends to the back of the car and wraps around the end of the trunk area and the two "C" sections and continues through the bumper...
Front of the car, that grille came with the car, however it wasn't that long, the left and right sides of it were actually pieces that were behind the middle one, I just took it apart, and snapped off all the center sections, filed down the tabs, and cleaned it up, doesn't look too bad if I do say so myself.
Here's the engine in its various iterations
