Just bought this bug last night, I've got high hopes for this car. As far as bugs go it has a very nice body, very little rust, and it only cost me $453.50 from a coworker. It has no rear seat, some random holes (I assume from a spoiler at one point) that have rusted slightly, and the electrical system is shot. My plans are to strip it completely, paint the interior and exterior, new dash, new carpet, new upholstry, create a sound system (nothing special, a couple 6x9's in the rear, possibly a sub and small amp) and just generally have fun with the car. Between tonight and tomorrow I should have the interior deconstructed and I expect to have the engine out this weekend. I'll keep everyone posted with pictures along the way!

These are the rustholes, I assume they came from a spoiler. There are a couple others on the rear fenders.

The engine is somewhat clean and runs well. The flywheel makes an interesting noise when idling in neutral, doesn't really matter though, I'll be rebuilding both anyway. The oilbath has to go ;) I plan on putting a 1600 or larger in it anyway, let me know if you're trying to get rid of one. Anyone have an easy way of seeing what size the engine is?

The backseat is gone... i'll be looking for one. I plan on putting a speaker box behind the seat with one or two subs and an amp. The speaker tray will contain 2 6x9's and I'll be trying to find a place to put a speaker or two up front. Let me know if you have a solution to this problem.

What you cant tell from the pictures is that the car was painted with a rattle can. It looks like it has a shine but in reality the car is just wet. The paintjob is horrible, it'll be stripped down to bare metal.
