Here is my long time ongoing E36 project. The engine is a stock M42 with your basic bolt ons. The suspension mods I've done make the car handle like its on rails. Bilstiens Sport Dampers with Eibach Pro Springs. Eibach Sway Bars, front Camber Plates and rear Camber Bars. E-bay Strut Tower Bars front and rear round out the suspension mods. I've decided not to go any further with the engine as the most an M42 can put out is 200HP maxed out and that just does not cut it for me. I need way more than that so I'm pursuing other options. My first choice is a turbo charged non vanos M50 with M52 crank, rods and pistons, compression lowering head gasket and ARP head studs. Probably will run it with an AEM stand alone. My plan is to somehow mate a Borg Warner T56 6 speed to it and run a Ford 8.8 diff from an Explorer and a modified and beefed up rear sub-frame and mounts etc. My second choice is to go with a cammed LS2 with said drivetrain. I'm still in the planning stages right now. Three young kids and a great wife take up most of my time and money so who knows when I'll get this project done.

Nice BMW 318i, it's very clean. One question for you though. Are you really getting 200 hp from your M42 engine? What modifications have you done? I've got the M44 engine which isn't too different, but with all the mods I can find, the most I can theoretically get upto is 160 hp. Care to shed some light on the subject?
