Well after having my first 1985LTD LX which I enjoyed and still own, I knew that I must continue on with them but attempt to express what I thought the perfect one would be for me. So I found this ol girl sitting behind a bunch of old refridgerators at a repairmans place. It was a plane jane with the wopping 3.8 and the am radio option, wow what a list! With the headliner hanging down to the seats, two windows broke out and told that it just would'nt run. It was still straight with orig. paint, complete with ugly tan stripes running down both sides of the hood and body. I was told that $50.00 would place it in my ownership, so the deal was done. Having some of the neighbor kids I guess steal my now ex's MKVII LSC while we were gone to the beach house in Oregon and then they dumped it after the gas was gone, bought it back from the insurance company for the salvage b cuz I had figured out that the K member from the LSC would fit right into the LTD and so would the 8.8 rear end complete with disc brakes. Also for your information, the LSC's come with factory rear suspention frame connectors and the fox platform LTD's are already premarked for the same bolt holes and they fit perfectly. I thought as long as I was this deep in the water, well why not transfer the complete air bag system for all four corners along with that computor and the one for the abs brake system as well, so it was done. The roller motor from the LSC recieved a camshaft, better lifters, timing chain and gears.Flowed the heads and a healthier set of valve springs, port matched the rest after cleaning up the intake and increasing its flow capacity,a large tube intake with a K&N on the end.A chip for the ECM to accomodate the camshaft change, increased flow and RPM capability. Installed the large blue bottle in the trunk which mandated the 140MPH speedo. The factory LSC headers just needed touching with the porting tools a bit and the small pipe exhaust had already been replaced with larger pipe so the double hump cross member and all the exhaust from the LSC bolted right on to the LTD like it was meant to be.A set of 1986 Mercury tail lights. All new leather interior with a split rear back seat allowing access to the trunk to haul longer items in the car and adding electric windows, locks, mirrors, trunk , gas door release along with auto dim and emergency brake release and electric seats with power lombar.Well it was nearing completion and practically ready to drive it like I stole it! What a fun little sleeper, a 140 speedo is a good thing when you actually can use it. So that was done 8 years ago and 130,000 miles back but its still in the driveway where it belongs. Thats it for now, presently working on my next combination of Ford and Lincoln parts, should be able to post that 4cam car soon.
