Here's our 87 Maxima. It's on it's 3rd life. It was a basket case when I got it FOR FREE a couple of years ago. I reassembled it and got it running. It was driven by my son for 2 1/2 years until the engine blew.

In Jan. 2003, at 184k miles, the engine dropped a valve. Every valve in both heads was bent and one piston had a hole in it. I put another engine in it in July 2003 and it's back on the road again. It runs as good as it looks.

It will be driven by my daughter when she gets her license next month. The whole car is stock except for the radio and speakers. Everything works and is in excellent condition. The car was well maintained when we got it in June 2000.

Excellent write-up on air regulator. I had one of these go about a year and a half ago -- wish I'd seen your piece then. In fact, I suspect that the regulator had not been operating correctly almost since the car was new. Not long after buying it my father ran into problems getting the car restarted if the ignition had been turned off after a moment or two from cold -- e.g. to move it in driveway only. After I replaced the regulator the problem disappeared. We'd been working around the problem for years. So much for Nissan mechanics -- they claimed it was just an unfortunate feature of the car.

Was wondering if you could tell me where the vacuum hose for the cruise control goes? Also the "small" hose that come out of a metal tube on the right of the air intake (V6 3000) if you can help and need more details e-mail me at juanperez_619@sbcglobal.net or Nextel me 145*2*55259 (956) 237-6961. Thanks for your help.
