WarmAndSCSI's 2001 Mitsubishi Galant

Future Plans (Pre-Mitsubishi Owners Day 2009)
- fab up new exhaust. I'm eyeballing the 3" piping kit from VRS and I'm definitely putting a 3" Magnaflow, no resonator on it.
- get dyno'd again, hoping for 20 WHP gain, putting me right below 400 WHP on 16 PSI. No exaggeration, my current exhaust is very restrictive, especially for 370 WHP

I ended up making 488 WHP on 17 PSI, and then 530 WHP on 20 PSI. I'm very pleased with this and I probably won't even bother turning up the boost past 20 PSI.

- buy 750 cc injectors, install, and tune

I've settled on 880's now but this will have to wait until I replace my transmission next month.

- crank boost up to 24 PSI, tune

No longer going to crank the boost up past 22 PSI or so.

- dyno on that setup hoping for just under 500 WHP

LOL I guess I underestimated.

- beehive springs from 3-valve Modular

This is happening very, very soon

- RPW Stage 3 272/272 HKS profile cams

This is most definitely happening. With a proper curve up top, I could be making 700 WHP right now.

- set rev-limit to 8000 after that
- 1 more dyno run for 600+ WHP with probably 50% C16

Shooting for 700+ now and to max this GT35R, foricng me to upgrade to a Forced Performance HTA86

...

- possibly win the dyno competition at MOD 09
- profit ?

In the meantime, I'll be powder coating more stuff in the engine bay to match and I might look at painting the engine bay black. All lines that should be stainless steel lines for my applications will be done in the same silver/black theme. That's a $500+ project in of itself even though quite a bit of my lines are already like that. And I might consider doing the interior black and CF, possibly with red or orange stitching. I'll be stripping it out past the front seats and installing at least a harness bar before MOD, if not a full weld-in cage.

Updates
- new exhaust is done. Magnaflow Race Series 3" oval muffler with Aero Turbine resonator attached to 3" mandrel-bent piping fabbed up from mandrel bends purchased locally
- got dyno'd and made +38 WHP changing nothing else (and I only predicted 20!)
- PTE 880 cc/min injectors purchased, waiting
- tune is ready for 30 PSI of boost on the 880's
- Ksport 330 mm front big brake kit ordered!

01.21.09 - Engine Bay Dress-Up Time!
I've got to get the engine bay show-ready for MOD, so I started powder coating some components. So far I've done the compressor cover and valve cover in candy orange. Thanks Shawn @ Unknown Coatings !

Here is how they look:

01.23.09 - Engine Refresh
I replaced the front 3 pistons (they were beginning to fall apart), ring sets, and all 6 rod bearings over the weekend and got the car running Wednesday. Some of the rod bearings were heavily fatigued (go figure for a 6G72) so I'm glad I had the chance to replace them. So far everything is running well and I'm boosting about 21 PSI. I might hit the dyno this evening and find out if I've broken 500 WHP yet. I should be sitting at ~550 WHP. Videos to follow!

01.28.09 - More Dress-Up
Well after making well over 530 WHP (hehe), I decided to have a few more engine bay items powder coated. This time in midnight black chrome w/ clear. Going to do several more items later. I really plan on going crazy with the visual stuff to get this car show ready =)

01.30.09 - Visual Tweaks
I finally got around to tinting my tails. I also went back and tinted the spoiler brake light. Got some new lug nuts as well because the old ones sucked.

03.31.2009 - New tires, fixing oiling issues, new plans for wheels

So I got a really good deal on some Bridgestone Potenza RE01R's this month. They're on the car now and performing well. Treadwear so far is not bad, but I need to keep a strict rotation schedule in order to get any longevity out of them.

I've got a new oil pump and main bearings on order - hopefully those will solve my low oil pressure and valvetrain ticking problems. That's this upcoming weekend's project.

And some new plans for wheels and tires. I've already picked out a wheel in 18x9 +30 mm offset that will go well on the car. For tires I'll be going with some Falken AZENIS RT-615's in 245/40R18. This all will be purchased before summer. I think the wheels will truly establish the aggressive look this car needs.

hey I really like your ride, I have a 96 galant and I think I just spun a rod bearing. I cant decide if I want to bother fixing it or buy a new car. I just found a 2001 gtz and after seeing your galant I might just have to buy it. 5 stars.
