Family cars .
1971 Corvette. This was my dads car, he got it in 1987. It had a 427 pushing out around 500HP, it was obviously not stock. I never saw him lose a race in , even against a 86/87 911 Turbo. He sold it once he got the Cobra.

1967 Classic Roadsters Cobra kit car. He bought this at the Chicago Auto Show in 92. When it arrived, it looked like a big model kit. It took one weekend to go through all the boxes it came with. None of the holes were cut out for the doors, head/tail lights, doors, front opening, front air inlets, etc. It came with everything but the wheels, engine & trans. He had them put a Ford 8.8 rear with a 3.55 gear. The first engine was a 460 made 600HP, 600TQ, going through a C6 auto trans. It was good for 0-60 imes in the 3's and a 1/4 mile in the high 10's, the car only weighed around 2500 lbs. The car took about 2 years to build(on & off) with a total investment of around $50K. The first engine didn't last too long because it seemed somehow sawdust had gotten into the engine. Engines don't last too long with sawdust in them. The second engine was also a 460, but only made around 500HP, 500TQ. He had to disconnect the downshift because at 65mph, it would break the tires loose. The car is also 4" longer then most other Cobras for more interior room. He chose an automatic because the space around the pedals was very small. It had manual brakes & steering. You couldn't drive the car when it got over 80 because the engine took up so much room, it didn't have enough room for the hot air to escape fast enough(even with a custom Griffin radiator, special coolants & dual electric fans). When the hood was off, you could drive it when it was a little hotter out. He sold it a couple of years ago for $22K.

Yes it even pulled boats, j/k.

My Mom's first car was a 65 GTO. She used to drag race at the strip and only lost to a 427 vette. She was also on my Dad's pit crew when he Drag raced an old AMX, way back when. I don't have any pics scanned yet.
