Wheel Painting Since i didn't have enough funds to get the JDM Work wheels that i wanted i decided to paint the wheels i had. This was a make or break decision since i only had a set of scrap 14" wheels that i use for drifting. I mounted these on th car and removed the wheels to be painted.I chose black as the wheel color but i thought that an all black wheel on a white car wouldn't look so good so i decided to leave the outter lip of the wheel unpainted (and maybe polish it later). Here are the materials i used 2 cans acrylic gloss black spray paint (each can gives at most 3 layers)sand paper 300, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1200 (1 sheet of each)paper tape for maskingBucket of warm water (when you will paint) First job was to clean the wheels and use the special wheel cleaner spray that removes dirt, grime and brake dust. After this the wheels were left to dry. Then the sanding began. You don't need to sand so hard you remove material of the wheel (!), just enough to make the surface better for the spray paint to catch on.I used the sand papers i mentioned above starting with 300 and ending with 1200 for an ultra smooth finish. The wheels were cleaned from dust with a brush and then masking began.
