Now ready for fleece and resin.

First I should test fit in the truck before I go any further.

The left and right sides have the speaker located at different angles.

I did this so the sound is directed towards my ears. Since I will be the only one in the truck for the most part, I figured I might as well angle the speakers towards me.

I had to modify the kick panels.

It seems that JL Audio has changed their opinion about the placement of tweeters. Ten years ago when I bought the tweeters they told me that I could place the tweeter up to 18" away from the midrange.

I went to their web site and it says that the tweeter should not be placed more than 4" away from the midrange. So here are some pictures with the tweeter added to the kick panel.

Project slows down

I have to cut the hump out of the back of the cab to make room for the subwoofer enclosure. When I built the box I thought the mounting depth of the woofer was 7" it turns out it was 8 1/4". So to make the speaker fit in the box I added the rings as spacers. Now my seat is too far forwards for a short fat old man to sit that close to the steering wheel.

Cutting the hump out of the back of the cab will give me approximately 3" more space to move the seats back.

Thanks LWRD2500, Keep looking for the truck you want, these things can be bought for very little money. One guy on Mazdatruckin.com just bought an ext cab for 150.00 and it runs, has A/C and Power steering.
