This is my toy. A 1941 Lincoln Zephyr 4-dr sedan with only 32,000 original miles. Technically, I am the 4th owner. The origianl owner bought this car new in late 1941 and put most of the 32,000 miles on it. When he died in the early 50's, his son put the car in storage for over 30 years. By then, the interior had rotted. My friend bought this car from the son in the early 80's, and restored the interior with new uphostery, carpet and a suede headliner. He also did some minor work on the engine to keep it running, but in the 30 years he owned the car, put less than 100 miles on it. I've known about this car for over 10 years, and kept bugging him to buy it. Last August he finally let me buy it. It still needs some TLC, but runs fine. I do need to do an overhaul on the flathead V-12, work on the brakes and fix some minor electrical problems. Otherwise, for being basically un-restored (original paint, chrome, wheels/tires, glass and rubber) it's in excellent condition. I had two appraisels, and both came in at over $30,000 (even though I paid $15,000!!!!).
Someday (when the funds allow) I plan to hot rod the engine like these above using "era" correct performance parts. I'll keep you posted!
