INTRO

My name's J.D., I'm 25 years old and I'm from Nashville, TN. This site is dedicated to the current resto-modification of my 1970 Mustang coupe. It's powered by a M-code 351 Celeveland, a C-4 automatic, and a Ford 9" rear end housing 4.10 gears. Here are some current pics of my baby. I am doing EVERY aspect of this build myself. And I will be a first-timer at everything... but I'm a quick learner. Keep an eye on my site and drop me some feedback and suggestions. I will be updating on a very regular basis wth new pics of my progression. And be sure to check out page 2 for more current photos!

This is her the day I got it. What a heap! It looks like it came from the junkyard but the guy had actually been drag racing it. Everything had been stripped for weight (and probably sold). The doors had been welded shut and there were dents and holes drilled in it everywhere. The hood and trunk supports were even removed for weight. Although the car looked horrible it was almost rust-free. Plus, it had the original 351 M-code Cleveland with headers, traction bars, a 9" rear end, and what was left of the lighted hood scoop. I talked him down from $1000 to $850 and she was mine! And I had a lot of work to do.

The car was originally red with white interior. But sanding revealed 4 different paint jobs. Red, then black, then red again, then orange. With primer under every coat (making that at least 8 coats). Realizing the paint stripping and bodywork were going to be major chores, I decided to begin with the interior an undercarriage.

IT BEGINS:

I quickly got to work disassembling what little parts were still on the car. Then it went up on jackstands, and all of the suspension components were removed. I stripped down, primed and rhino-lined the undercarriage, inner wheel wells, trunk and interior floor and roof. Next I pulled out the engine and trans, and rhino-lined the trans tunnel, engine compartment and inner fenders. (That stuff looked so good, I couldn't stop. I'm very pleased with how it turned out.)

I ordered all new shocks, springs, brake hoses and bushings. 4-leaf springs on the back, KYB gas shocks all the way around. I kept the drag springs on the front because I like the ride hieght. (May be a little stiff for the street, though.) I removed and inspected the axles and third member, replaced all of the seals, and gave it all a fresh coat of paint. Everything went back together with all new nuts and bolts, and I sat the Stang back down on a set of 18x9 Ford Racing wheels that came off a buddies 01 Mustang GT. ($250.) I also installed a brand new 22 gallon gas tank and hardware to replace the tiny fuel cell that had been in it.

It is looking good. You're moving a lot faster than I am.. although the Plymouth should be running by the end of January.

hey bro, you will never guess what happened, I had posted both of my 302's on craigslist that i bought for my car, and a guy showed up to buy them. He checked the blocked numbers in his magazine and my first block that i bought for $40 is numbered C9OE, which means its a 1969-71 351W. Im so stoked.

I like it. Check back on my 73 Stang. I just inherited a 5.0 and a T5 from my brother's ride. Out with the busted 302 and in with the fuel injection and manual transmission.
