I bought my Fastback on 07.04.2006. The car was a Rangoon Red car when came from US to Turkey. The previous owner painted the car to black and made some restoration inside and outside. The photo at the bottom of this page shows the situation of the car when I bought it.
After I bought the car, I upgraded manual steering to power steering. Because the manual steering was not the perfect system to have in the in-city traffic.
I checked the VIN and found that the is an A-Code car. The original engine was and is still in the car from the factory. In this respect I found the original 4 barrel intake manifold and the carburetor. In march 2008 I changed the carb with a fresh Demon (Road Demon 525).
I had some problems with the ignition and changed the distributor with a proform electronic distributor immediately. This solved the starting problems and improved the mileage.
I saw that the suspension needed to be upgraded too. Almost all the bushings and bumpers were replaced. Front end was checked and some parts were replaced. The main upgrades are below:
- Grab-a-trak 620 lb.in. coil springs (1 inch drop)
- Grab-a-trak 4-1/2 leaf w/ reverse-eye leaf springs
- Edelbrock IAS Shocks for all corners
The car was also coated for sound and heat proofing.
The engine bay was cleaned and painted.
I also made some repairs on the exhaust system, painted the whole exhaust system, bought new mufflers.
Since the summers are hot here, I bought the A/C kit from Classic Auto Air.
The front brakes were in bad shape, so instead of spending the money on the drum brakes, I found 11 inch 4 piston discs from a friend. I changed the vacuum booster and master cylinder.
I changed the previous 15 inch wheels with 16 inch American Racing TorqueThrust 2 wheels. Because of the size, I rolled the fenders.
I also had some over-heating problems when I bought the car. As a result, I removed the original fan and installed an electric fan with a new 3 row radiator.
You can check the condition of my fastback from below shots.
I also have some edited photos on the following page.
