Hi all, this is my humble page on SD. I drive a 2003 Toyota Corolla 1.5XLi. Let me introduce myself. I?m an engineer by training, and I love tinkering with all sorts of gadgets and stuff, like computers, motorcycles, cars, home audio, automation and so on.

My page is pretty amateur, so have a good laugh? it?s a hobby and I don?t do this for a living (not my main source of income anyway), but I?m sure I?ll get better with time. Big up to the guys that have given me so much advice from months of talk, opinions and what not. Hai Chuan, Patrick, Jack, TS, Jason, Wei Cheng, Yi Huei, Willie, Edmund P88, Edmund BMKar? Thank you.

Apart from the full sound deadening in the cabin and on the doors, my car is kept totally stock because I like the fuel consumption as it is and I don?t want it to get any worse. The audio system however, was ripped out on the second day of ownership. This is what?s in it now:

HU: Alpine CD-9827/Alpine PXA-H700/Alpine CHA-S624 optical changer
Front speakers: VIFA MG18WK09 4ohm mids with Scan Speak D2904-61000 OEM tweeters
Rear Speakers: None
Front amp: ZAPCO I-250 for tweeters, Autotek SS550.2 for mids (active 2-way)
Sub: IDMAX.v3 D2 (wired in series to give a 4 ohm load)
Sub amp: PPI PC21400 (work-in progress)

These are a few pictures of my ride.

I?ve made a couple of custom fibreglass sub boxes, and on the following pages, you?ll see my work. The entire install is done by yours truly, and I know it?s not exactly world class, but it represents the hours I?ve put into it. Fibreglass is easy to do but a lot of work is involved, and it?s one thing to be able to glass a shape, but another to make the moulding strong and bubble free.

I had the amp rack redone stealth style, and while I could do the work myself, the cost of the wood and carpet was about the same as letting an installer do it. This is the ONLY thing not done by me in the car. My previous amp rack was carried over from my previous car, and it was a little small to hold the 2 amps and crossovers.

The system diagram is like this NOW (6 Jan 2005), and the work is in progress...

Beautiful work! I'm looking to do the exact same thing with my 2004 Corolla and would like to get in touch for some feedback from you. Can you PM me on the forums or let me know how to get in touch with you? Thanks!
