Bigtrev90's 1992 Oldsmobile Toronado

My 92 Trofeo with 68,000 miles. I bought this car in march of 2007, it had 56000 miles on it. It also had a few problems. The sunroof drains were clogged and water was running under the carpet, it had a shorted out guage cluster, and some wires needed replacing. Well i drove it all the way back home from indiana to nebraska. After about a month i had fixed everything. I replaced the headliner, carpet, guage cluster, and most of the wiring harnesses in the car. I had this thing stripped down. But after 839 bucks i would say i came out pretty good. so in total with the repairs the car cost me $3839. Havent had a problem since, but who is to say i wont have any in the future. That is the only thing that worries me about this car. otherwise i love it. i am only 16 so this is a pretty sweet car to me. i have a done quite a bit with the stereo and i installed an alarm, remote start system. Let me know what you think of this car.

You could probably supercharge it by swapping a 3800 Series II into it but it'd be a bit of work. I say go for it though, the Toronado is a sweet car and deserved to have a more high performance version. If only GM kept making it, since the Riviera was produced at the same time with the same motor and whatnot and it was continued into production well after the Toronado was killed off I feel like it would've been the mate to the Riviera in the Olds lineup. They might have even put something like the 4.0 V8 into it instead of the Aurora! You could always drop in a 4.0 - that would be really cool too. Good luck with your Toronado, it looks great!

Hey nice car, looks very much like mine did when I purchased it 9 yrs ago. Now that you have all your issues sorted out don't worry too much about more, they are built pretty well, mine has 213,644 miles now and still has the orginal stainless steel exhaust, struts, etc, and the engine has never been apart. Every option still works and it drives great. I do run synthetic oil, and keep everything in order. My only problem so far was finding a grill after a semi threw a mudflap into it and over the hood. It took 3 months to find that! I have seen one with a next generation factory blown V6 but that involves some wiring and computer work with the swap, don't know how much and if the gains are worth it. I believe the engine was out of a Buick Park Avenue. You can gain a little with a free flowing air filter such as K&N or simular and different exhaust. Keep up the great work you have started.
