After the accident which resulted in my 2005 Civic EX SE being totaled, I acquired this 2003 Civic EX SE.
When I first drove this car I wasn't very impressed with its sound or power features so I decided to make a modification. I replaced the ridiculous 'air box' that Honda gives all their cars as stock and gave my Civic a K&N Cold Air Intake. Now my Civic has something to roar about... I think you'd agree?
Since my mother had ownership of the Civic for three years previous to me, its a given the car is covered in scratches... Luckily, the cars color "champaigne" hides the scratches rather well.
In addition the Cold Air Intake, I installed 12" blue neon lights under both the driver and passanger seats which look amazing at night. I took all these pictures with my cell phone camera and since its not very good at taking pictures in the dark I cannot provide pictures yet but I plan to eventually. In the meantime, here's a picture similar to the neon lights I bought and installed. The neon lights are true neon; not LED.
I wired the neon lights so that no wires would show. There are only two visible wires: 1) the wire going from the input to a hidden location which runs underneathe my drivers seat where it attaches to a 3 plug outlet, 2 of which go to the neons, and the other; 2) hooks into my radar detector and runs up from the drivers seat to the wind shield.
Jackie had the stock stereo system removed and replaced it with a DUAL which is a step up in quality. The actual speakers still remain but the stereo was replaced. The DUAL system gives you the option of (settings: jazz, rock, beat, optimal), balance, fade distribution, loud/soft, mp3, 2 FM, and 1 AM.
There are some other modifications I would like to do to my Civic but for right now I'm happy with it.
I noticed a big difference in my Civic's acceleration from 0-60 after installing the K&N Cold Air Intake. I highly recommend it, not only because of the sound it makes (uncharacteristic of a typical Civic), but because of response time to the gas peddle (save time in racing), gas efficiency increases, and added horespower, thus giving my VTEC an extra kick.
I'm not affraid to say that I've also beat an RSX and an Eclipse. Though I feel that in speeds over 70, I might loose, my Civic's acceleration is impressive.
