This is my 1966 Chevelle SS396. I bought it when I was 17, and I've owned it for 33 years. It is a genuine 13817 VIN Super Sport. It was parked from 1991 to 2006 and did not run during those 15 years. In 2006 I got motivated to get it running again and restore it to the best of my ability. It was built in Fremont, CA the first week of November, 1965. It still has the original matching numbers 325 hp 396. A previous owner replaced the original Powerglide trans with a Turbo-Hydramatic 400. I wish it had come with a 4-speed transmission - and I plan to install that or possibly a 5-speed at some point.I believe the differential is the original one - it is dated 727 and coded CX0 B which is a 3.07 non-Positraction built in Buffalo, NY.What I assume to be the original alternator and distributor are still with the car. The alternator is coded 5 E 14, which translates to May 14, 1965 and the distributor code is 5 J 7 which is Sept. 7, 1965.The engine was rebuilt around 1984 by Tom and Jerry Raschella of King City, CA. It was bored .040 over and new pistons, rings, bearings etc. were installed. They installed a Comp Cams CB 280H-10 cam for that extra bit of performance and rough idle we love so much.I plan to repaint it the original Aztec Bronze color, and restore the interior to factory correct. I purchased Legendary Interiors seat covers and plan to install them at some future time. It's a fairly low-option car - U63 AM Radio; A51 Strato-Bucket Seats; D55 Floor Console; A39 Deluxe Seatbelts; N40 Power Steering; M35 Powerglide Transmission; and U14 Special Instrumentation - which is the gauge package with knee-knocker tachometer. The original knee-knocker tachometer was missing when I bought the car; I found a nice original one a while back and it will be installed at some point. I added power brakes to it back in the 1980s. Thanks for checking out my car!
