STORY BEHIND THE 'LEMON BIRD':
All started in March '07, I was graduating high school and looking for a new car after going thru 2 old beaters('93 Chevy Lumina, and '88 Ford Ranger both over 200,000mi on them) While I was searching I will admit I was looking for a ricer...(why I have absolutely no idea) then I came across the 'bird sitting at a decent price tag of $7,000 only 2 towns away. After test driving the car about 5 times within the month I managed to talk the salesman down to $6,000 and after begging my 'rents to co-sign the loan I finally got the car and it was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, owned many many ricers and a few 'stangs too...hehe. End of story right? HELL NO! Then the problems came...all of a sudden I needed to put about $1,500 into the damn thing for: 4 new tires($410), both window motors($40), used driver headlight motor($40 from guy at work), water pump($225), rear-end gears 3.73 (snapped 5 teeth off ring and 3 off pinion before I couldn't drive her anymore, problem started before I owned the car. $570) I think that's it. Then the car was amazing once again woohoo! End of story...of course NOT! More problems occured in the maybe 3-4 months i had it back, damn good summer tho! But now the car is back in the shop since July and I won't get it back 'til Spring '09 after dropping another about $1,500-$2,000 on it for: distributer cap and rotor($300), NGK T-55 plugs and 8mm wires($120), new clutch($260), new passenger headlight motor($150), new brakes pads and rotors($640), oh and some trans work because my reverse throws it self out if I give it any gas, I have to let engine pull itself thus the need for a new clutch...f'd either way($?500ish?) Maybe i'll paint it yellow someday to signify that the lemon was overcome...and that is where the 'Lemon Bird' stands as of now 12/5/08. Sitting peacefully at the shop my uncle works for waiting for a lift to open so the major deconstruction can start. Only reason it takes so long is because uncle does the work without charging much, if any labor and as I am in college, cheaper is better except for the parts going into the car(never stinge on car parts!!!) Someday wish to TwinTurbo or Supercharge car to about 600-800hp and use as a weekend driver/dragger, also wish to be in a Bullrun or go on Powertour, or both! Thx for reading and I will keep updating as the car comes along. 'Lemon Bird'
