After doing several HPDE and SCCA autocross events with my Saleen SC (and realizing how terrible the car handled) I "caught the bug" and began searching for a good platform for a dedicated track car for open track days...and perhaps one day getting into some amateur wheel-to-wheel racing.
DON'T MISS "THE WRECK" VIDEO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1RohRau9Hg and other on-track action on page 4.
Here's the story behind the car that I found...
Life began in 2002 as a Roush Stage 3 Mustang with 281-2v modular motor, M90 roots-style supercharger and dual fuel pumps but was cut short when stolen. I purchased this car on eBay with as a "theft recovery" with a salvage title....complete with bullets under the back seats! A great starting point for a track car. Before being delivered to Performance Autosport in Richmond VA, the entire interior was removed and sold on eBay. Basically, anything that added unneccessary weight was taken out.
Performance Autosport (PAS) is Griggs Racing's #1 dealer and can be contacted at www.performanceautosport.com or at 804-784-8851. Ask for Mark Lamaskin (owner) or Don Rostich (fabricator).
The car was delivered to Performance Autosport in 2007 (PAS). PAS has a great reputation as an authorized Griggs dealer and installer and they have one of the very best fabricators is the business Don Rostich. Don's first step was to install Griggs World Challange frame kit -- a combination of internal and external frame rails -- proven to stiffen the chassis by more than 1500%.
