Here is one of my old projects
Bought this car for $40. back in 1985 and drove it home, of course it didn't look like the picture above.
I cleaned it up, replaced a dented door and drove it awhile and it used 1 quart of oil for every 100 miles so obviously I rebuilt the the 307. During the build I installed a mild street cam, a set of double hump 327 heads, aluminum intake and a Holley 600cfm.
This really woke the little 307 up, mostly due to the 327 heads flowing better and probably raising the compression ratio a couple points.
This car was my daily driver for the next 3 years, were I clocked over 80,000 miles, sadly I had to sell it after that.
Moral of the story
Bought for $40.
Rebuilt for $250 (had the heads)
Paint $200.
Wheels & Tires $200
Total cost aound $700.
Sold it 80K miles latter for $4000.
Sadly the young owner wrecked it within a month
