5/19/2012 My original seats are for sale see page 4 for details!Update 9/06/2009: Installed: 4500K (OEM legal color) Bi Xenon Projector Headlights in my cars Factory Pop/Ups! This is not a simple plug in play install. Nor is it cheap! If you are Pop/Up headlamp fan, like I am! Your probably annoyed how the aftermarket ignores this set up or eliminates it with non Pop/Up lights. Now I've used the quick H4 HID rig (page 6) its cheap and it works at a pinch, but the glare and lack of beam control will give you more fingers than thumbs up on the road. Simply put the only real way is too copy the factory set up used on most cars.Problem is no one makes a bolt on kit. I purchased Bi functional Projectors, they use built in actuators like factory projectors, unlike factory ones the set I got are fully in closed, meaning you can use them in a Pop/Up! They use H1 HID bulbs, (I know these are not the D2S D2R OEM bulbs) but unlike them there is no small BOX attached to them. There Isn't enough room in the Pop/Up for the box. Modern Digital aftermarket kits use ballasts with built in igniter(the little Box on the D2 bulbs) So the bulbs will fit in any headlight. The lights the same, the colors the same ect. The hardest part of using projectors is mounting them and making them look good, lots of fabricating and BEER!! I will do a rite up if theirs enough interest.Note too the aftermarket: The basic setup I used will work on many cars not just Firebirds. Their many cars that have similar H6054 sealed beam or Hella equivalents. Its about time the aftermarket payed attention to Pop/Up headlight cars! Some of us like are Pop/Ups but want HID technology!Factory cars with HID Pop/Ups: Honda NSX (not sure what years, never in the USA). BMW 850ci (one of my personal favorites-never offered in the USA). Feel free to update me on other cars with this set up factory installed?! Cars that have similar H6054 sealed beam or Hella equivalents Pop/Up Headlights: GM Firebird 82-90(91-02 used smaller similar lights!) Corvette C4 84-96, (Note they are available for C5 Corvette!!! ) Buick Reatta, Pontiac Fiero, Many others often smaller sealed beams but similar! Nissan : 240Sx (Silvia), 200Sx (Mid 80/s) Notable Exotics : Lamborghini Diablo (All Pop/Up years!) Ferrari, ect! I could go on forever but you get the idea!Cars that have similar sealed beam or Hella equivalents but are Non Pop/Up Headlights:Too many to list!! Quick GM examples: Camaro 82-97 Firebird 77-81, Cadillac Cimarron 82-86, Chevy Cavalier 82-87, Pontiac Sunbird 76-87(-94 GT some SE Models) Buick Skyhawk 75-89, Oldsmobile Starfire/Firenza 75-87, practically all before 87(the year composites became legal) If only the aftermarket made HID Projector's in these styles almost anyone cold do this conversion, because almost all sealed beams are universal!!The wiring if done right shouldn't interrupt headlamp door operation.
