Welcome to my my 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi's Website
4/25/08:
On 9/15/07 I traded my 2003 Nissan 350Z in to Subaru of Gwinnett in Georgia. The previous owner of my beautiful World Rally Blue STi had put quite a bit of work into the car.
SO...I have been asked several times, "why did you trade your Nissan for that ugly rice looking car?" The answer is simple really, my Nissan had 2 flaws. Flaw #1: the body kit that was installed looked great the first day after I got it back. However, after scrapping the front lip several times driving around town, the paint began to chip and crack on the front bumper. At first it wasn't that noticeable, but it got worse. The second flaw is simply in bad weather, the 350Z was better off just parked at home. It would slide all over the road.
The solution to the above problems were pretty easier to find. First, buy a different car. Secondly, buy an All Wheel Drive car. Finally, buy a faster car!
Many of you know my options were very limited looking for a fast, affordable, AWD car! I had a choice to make between the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and the Subaru Impreza WRX STi. Remembering this car was going to be my daily driver for quite sometime (at least the next 4 years); I was not solely worried about performance. I also wanted a vehicle I knew was going to last a long time.
I did my research. At the end of the day I decided that the WRX STi was a better fit for me than the Lancer Evolution. While there is a better variety of performance upgrades for the Lancer EVO; the dependability of the Subaru won me over. I was surprised by Subaru during the research. 95% of their vehicles that were made ten years ago are still on the road driving. Subaru is also the only car manufacturer that consumer reports recommends every single model made. And finally, the boxer motor in the Subaru was designed by the world's finest German Engineers!
Like I said, the previous owner had quite a few mods done to the car. I would say there are plenty that I don't even know about yet. So I will start with what I do know about the car, followed up with what I have planned for the car in the future.
MODS:
- Greddy Turbo back exhaust
- Injen Cold Air Intake
- Invidia Up Pipe
- Performance Downpipe
- Greddy Blow Off Valve
- 17X7.5 Rota Wheels
- 6.2" Legacy In Dash DVD/CD/TV Receiver
- 800 Watt Coustic Amplifier
- 2 12" JL Audio Subwoofers
- Ecutek Computer Tuning
- 20% Window Tint drivers and passenger windows
Those are the modifications that I know about. The stock suspension has been completely reworked as well. However, I have no clue what has been done to the suspension. A friend looked at it about 2 months ago and told me it definitely was not stock under there. From his best guess it looked like some sort of aftermarket shocks, springs, and sway bars. Like I said...no clue. Unfortunately, this is the downside to buying a vehicle that has already been modified.
This car is currently being used as my daily driver, as well as my SCCA Autocross vehicle. I am currently running in the STU class. As soon as I can buy some new wheels and tires, I plan to start racing in the PRO division. If your interested check out the Chattanooga Region Sports Car Club of America. So here is my list of future modifications.
FUTURE MODS:
- New Wheels
- Bridgestone Potenza R Compound Tires
- Manual Boost Controller
- Dyno4mance Tuning
- New Header
- Bigger Fuel Injectors
- Slotted Rotors
- Hawk Pads
- Better Fuel Pump
- Methanol Injection System
- Front Mount Intercooler
This is not a complete list, nor is it a list that is in concrete. I may decide not to turn up the boost because I get a better PAX index running in the STU class rather then the SM class. I would like to put the Bridgestone Pontenza's on the Rota Wheels and use them for Auto cross only. If I crank up the boost and move into the Street Modified divison, I will be running slicks instead.
BELOW are some various pictures of the car on and off the track
Left: Just put the STi Wing back on the car!
