Here's my first vette, a 2002 electron blue Z06. I had a 427 rear-wheel HP '99 Trans Am that I sold in January '08 and picked this up. The Z06 puts down around 355 RWHP stock but it's so much lighter and geared better that it feels just as fast as my T/A did. I love the color since you don't see it very often (only offered in 2002 and 2003).

Spring '08 - Just got my chrome speedlines put on!!

Summer '08 - just ran the 1/4 for the first time in this car and my first trip down the track ran a 12.77 @ 115 with a 2.14 60'.  I w as spinning off the line, on the 1-2 shift and even the 2-3 shift as well.  I need some drag radials and some better track prep, my

7-yr old stock Goodyears just weren't cutting it!  Oh and the DA was 4500 so the weather could've been better!

Winter '08 - Bought some FLP 1 3/4" LT's and an off-road X-pipe.  Car is a little throatier now.

Spring '09 - Just bit the bullet and bought some AFR 2 05cc heads and a custom spec cam specifically for this combo...it's a 231/235 .617/.621 113+4 on LSL lobes.  Also an underdrive pulley will be going on at the same time.  Can't wait to get this stuff intalled in April and hopefully some dyno/track numbers in May!  The goal is 450RWHP and 400+ RWTQ on the stock LS6 intake and ported throttle body.

Summer '09:

6/14/09 - HEADS/CAM INSTALL HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN!

Flycut .025" to bring piston to valve clearance up to 0.095" for piece of mind
New heads are purty!
7/1/09 ALL DONE WITH INSTALL - LOOKS PRETTY STEALTH TOO.  Fire d right up and oil pressure came up quick.  Has a nice lope to it too.civlant's 2002 Chevrolet Corvette
7/25/09 Made it to the dyno - 445 RWHP/402 RWTQ on a dynojet w/ STD correction factors used...not too bad for having the stock LS6 intake and a ported LS6 throttle body!

8/29/09 Picked up a FAST 90mm intake manifold and LS2 90mm throttle body.  I ported both and painted the intake gloss black.  Looks pretty good and picked up a few ponies I'm sure...will hit the track in October!!

Fall '09: After getting tuned for the ported FAST 90mm intake and ported LS2 90mm TB I got a couple runs in at the track.  10/1/09 - weather was cool and DA was "down" to 1300...ran a couple 12.1x's with the clutch slipping a little bit in 4th then my 3rd and last run of the night was an 11.935 @ 121.4 with a 1.98 60'.  I didn't even heat up the Nitto DR's since I don't have a line lock and was worried about heating up the clutch.  I'm done for the year and will put in a new clutch in the Spring of '10.  Then will hit the track to see what she will really do.  I'll be shooting for 11.8x @ 122+.

Pics of the AFR 205cc heads...can't wait to install these!  Custom spec cam that will be going with them is a 231/235 .617"/.621" 113+4.

1/12/09 FLP Longtubes to an ARK X-pipe are installed.  Had to fab up the pipes from the cat-delete tubes back to the X pipe.

Here's my new lloyd's floor mats, they give the interior a nice touch over the stock worn out mats.

Desired mods after the H/C setup is done:

Fast 92/92 intake and throttle body setup, better clutch, hardened output shaft, differential brace.
And even further down the road (if I can ever afford it): Forged 402 shortblock and ATI procharger

My bad G 136 not 146 LOL Those are 10 sec times. I guess I had a bit to much Vino lastnight and was suffering from te drunk fat finger. Yeah the Shoe runs hard, I was not expecting this car to run this fast but what a surprise Even on the street it is a Beast. In your Z what cam did you install?

Awesome vette, and thanks for the engine build story. Always great to verify the feasibility of these upgrades. Did you do all the work yourself or take it to a shop? "FLP 1 3/4" LT's and an off-road X-pipe" - do you mean SLP? Did the header upgrade give you any kick, by itself?
