Engine

BigRedMopar's 1969 Volkswagen Beetle

After a hard life the engine needed to be rebuilt. It is now 1641 cc with a 2bbl Weber 40mm Carb, engle 110 cam, electronic ignition, and exhales through a "hidaway" exhaust system. This engine doesn't compare to many that I've seen in bugs, but its fun and makes for a good cruiser while running about a 8 1/2: 1 compression. Along with the engine rebuild, I installed a 1974 super beetle tranny for the better gear ratio and I've got a Scat Dragfast Shifter ready to be installed. It may be small, but it's got enough power to light up the Hoosiers on the back.

Why "Der Schatten" (the shadow)? What do you want to say with it?

nice bug indeed, those checkered door panels are fantastic :P so i didnt vote on your poll, cuz IMHO, the best thing to do isnt listed there... since it looks like you are going for the rat-rod look, i would go with a choptop but keep the roof, chop the front like 4 inches down and leave the back at normal height to give the roof a nice rake to it; looks ill... or if you do go for a chopped windsheild, you should put a carson top on it, then you can have the convenience of a vert, with a sweet rod look. just a thought.

Which wheels are you running? I like the fancy ones, they look great.
