This is my custom SubBox for one of my Kenwood 12's. Thats a Alpine DVC Type R lying in there. I have a Custom box in my HDHCDD roll bar and will post pics in a week or so.

With the Kenwood

I got the idea form the Polk Momo box. I had to modify the design to fit in the trunk of a Miata, and for it to be 2 cubes. It was the first box I ever built I thought I did a pretty good job
It took 20 hrs to build in my friends garage over 5 days.
MATERIALS3/4" MDF(Medium Density Fiberboard)
1/8" Lexan (Super Plexiglass)
2 tubes of silicone
1 bottle of wood glue
140 2 1/2" drywall screws

I started with the bottom board and added the sides. I used wood glue on every wood to wood joint.

After I already cut the face board then I changed the design to get the required 2 cubes. I added wings to the side which sit over the lip in the trunk. doing this I had to add on to the face which made gaps that I filled with silicone and joined with a 3 inch strip of MDF.

Dont forget to drill pilot holes as well as drill the top board at a large enough diameter so the screw dosent catch doing this will prevent the wood from cracking and give you the tightest possible seal. Mine cracked anyway but if you clamp where you screw it should be fine.
I placed a bead of silicone across every joint then carpeted it in and out.
Then I cut the Lexan using a Dremel at low speed with universal cutting tool and bit. I used a level and a piece of wall trim as a guide.

I put silicone along the edge where I was gonna place the Lexan and used 1 1/2" drywall screws every two inches.

I used a dremel again to cut the hole for the Sub Box.
It all turned out pretty good.

I could have used some help carpeting the box(first time) but it wasent too bad.

Ratteling ProblemsThe plactic carpeted panel at the back of the trunk. I removed this to solve. The heat sheild inder the trunk. I removed this also. The trunk lid. I took the foam from the deck (took it out anyway for the Box that was going there). I rolled up Terry Towels and placed them on top of the SubBox to press on the lid. I also used rolled up strips of Box carpet to act as a spacer inbetween the box and the back of the trunk in case of extreme acceleration.
