The story behind this car is very unique. My girlfriends dad has a thing for the 90's Mercury Capri's. And for whatever reason saw this car covered in snow and thought it was a Capri. He stopped in to ask about it, it was on a farm sunk into the mud. An elderly couple lived on the property and it was their sons car. It had needed a clutch about five years ago, it was parked and left to sit until he got around to it.

Well apparently he never got around to it, and he had a family to take care of now. So he told them to sell it, to the next person who asked about it. Well after he asked about it, they told him it wasnt a Capri, but an MR2. Well my girlfriend loves these little MR2s. He knew this and asked them how much they wanted for it. They said $75, he said sold.

He wanted me to try and get it started for him, because I was more familiar with Toyotas. It was apparent that it had a locked up starter, among other problems. He didnt want to mess with it, but had already purchased it. My girlfriend already had an amazing low mileage MR2, and I had one with the floor rotted out. So he asked me if I wanted it as a christmas present...... Um, let me think about it, yeah!

However, the window had been down for five years..... It had about three inches of decomposing, I said DECOMPOSING leaves on the floor. The two tone black and grey seats were black and green. And there were hornets nests, and spiders cobwebs EVERYWHERE. Thankfully the MR2 I had, had an immaculate interior. These pictures were taken after I switched the interior, and hadnt even washed it yet.

It took a starter, AFM, Injectors, Fuel Pump, Fuel Tank, Fuel Lines clutch, slave cylinder, and a master cylinder. Luckily, I now had a parts car... Which had shortly after the purchase spun a rod bearing... Low oil pressure, and a 4th gear pop out attributed to the bearings death.
Oh and I need to say here that if it werent for Seafoam (A denatured alcohol product for cleaning most all an engines internal parts, you can find it a Speedway gas stations, Autozone, and Advance Auto Parts) But if it werent for Seafoam this car wouldnt be running, it had a dead cylinder, probably from sitting the rings need to re-seat. That and they were probably full of sludge and dirty oil. But after two treatments of Seafoam I had gained proper compression in that cylinder, saving me the hassle of a rebuild!!

I painted the nasty looking covers a nice shade of gold. And put an old (temporary) cone filter on the AFM. It runs pretty good now, all in all, this was an excellent purchase.
