Help me out and nominate my car for a showoff!!!!
Here are a few pictures of my 2004 WRX. Back in March 2008 I spun the main bearing so it was time for a new engine. I decided to go with a hybrid setup instead of rebuilding the old 2.0L. After doing some research I decided to go with Ron from RAW Performance out of IL for my 2.5L bottom end. Ron was more then helpful thought the whole process and would recommend him to anyone. My car is currently in the shop waiting on the new engine from RAW Performance to be installed.
My car is finally back and has the base map on it for now, thanks Andy at Verocious Motorsports. Even with the base map the car pulled hard. It defintely fells stronger than the last motor, guess that's what an FP18g and a 2.5L bottom end will do for you. The car is finally running right and am waiting on a few other little things before I get the car tuned.
Finally my car has been tuned!!! I took it to Verocious Motorsports in Wilmington, DE and had it tuned by Andy. I am happy with the results, for now anyway ... lol! The final numbers were 308 whp and 342 ft lb of tq at 22 psi. That is close to 400 bhp. That was the max boost I could run "SAFELY" with the stock MAP sensor. I will be purchasing a new AEM 3.5 bar sensor in the near future so I can safely increase the boost some more to take full advantage of the FP18g. Hopefully with the AEM 3.5 bar MAP sensor installed the car will put down another 40 whp or so.
Just lost second gear, so now it looks like it's time for a new gear set. I really want to go with PPG's, but may end up going with a set from mfactory.
Well after my research it looks like i am going to go with a new set of PPG gears. I will be purchasing 1 - 4 straight cut gears. I really didn't want to shell out the extra cash, but i don't want to rebuild it again. If I'm gonna do it I might as well go with the best!
Got my 1-4 PPG's this weekend. I will be taking out the transnission starting tomorrow. I Ended up getting a great deal on a straight cut set so I guess I will have to deal with the noise they will make. Hopefully with my exhaust i will not e able to notice the noise. I also have the AEM 3.5 bar MAP sensor on the wat too, another deal i couldn't pass up ... lol!
A friend and I dropded the tranny in no time. It was a hell of a lot easier then I thought, and an easy way to save $500.00.
I got my transmission back from Verocious Motorsports on 6/26/09. Andy did an awesome job on the build. My friend and I finished installed it this afternoon ... all I can say is the PPG's are awesome, and I love the sound of the straight cut gears. I have to put 250 miles on the new tranny then i will be putting in a mix of Red Line Shockproof gear oil and Red Line 75W90ns.
After 1000 miles the care is running awesome. I hardly even notice the gears whining over the exhaust and radio. I am hoping to get the car to the local track and see what ir will do! Hopefylly with a good launch it will see low 12's, but my friend swears it will run high 11's. I guess we will see who is right!
7/28/09: Some lady backed into me this evening. I now have a nice big indent in my rear bumper. I will put up a few pics tomorrow for everyone to see. I sure hope her insurance company pays for it ....
Quote is in, and it is just under $600.00 worth of damage ... now i just have to wait to hear from her insurance! Well looks likr the insurance company feels we are both at fault on this one. I guess I just don't understand ... i am mofing forward and i get backed into and i am partially at fault ... go figure. If I didn't have a cousin that can paint and help me replace the cover I may just fight it. But at this point it not worth my while.
UPDATE 9/24/09: Looks like another Spun bearing ... time to build a new motor! Looks like my quest for 550 awhp is gonna start sooner then i would have liked! Looks like I am gonna start with a Signature Series Short block from Ron at RAW Performance complete with Darton Ductile Iron Sleeve Liners, Modified forged EJ257 crankshaft, High Performance Main & Rod Bearings, Custom Pauter Machine Forged Rods, Custom & Coated CP Forged Pistons and ARP Head Studs. As for the heads I will have Ron give mine his Track Series treatment and have a set of GSC stage 2 cams installed. For the turbo it looks like i am gonna go with a custom rotated setup using a FP HTA GT35 turbo .... Let the fun begin!!!!!
What started out as a hobby has turned into an obsession!
Before I spun the main bearing I had a typical Stage 2 setup. I had a Top Speed 3" turbo back exhaust, K&N short ram intake, Turbo XS Type H-RFL Blow Off Valve, Turbo XS MBC , STi scoop and an EcuTek ECU reflash. The results were 248 whp and 266 ft lbs of torque. Not bad I guess for a few bolt on parts.

Comming Soon .... A RAW Performance Stage 2 EJ257 shortblock with forged internals, new STi Oil and Water Pumps, Cometic Head Gaskets, ARP Head Studs, FP18G Turbo, STi TMIC, Walbro 255 lph Fuel Pump, Modded Stock WRX Injectors and a new ACT Street Series clutch. I will be keeping the Top Speed 3" Turbo Back Exhaust and Turbo XS MBC. I will be replacing the K&N Short Ram with a new P&L Motorsports Signature HighFlo Intake. Once everything is installed, broke in and tuned I am hoping for 320 - 330 whp and around 340 ft lbs of torque. Not going to do a whole lot on the outside, want to keep that sleeper look. Stay Tuned for updates!
