70 Camaro

JDBlazer454's 1970 Chevrolet Camaro

This is my 70 Camaro I acquired last June. She was a #'s matching drivetrain with a 307 backed by a T350. A Few mod's have been done to the engine like a 600 cfm Edelbrock carb, Edelbrock Performer intake, Hedman headers, and Flowmaster mufflers. Not many mods have been done except a fiberglass L88 hood, 3 piece tall spoiler, and Viper red paint with deck stripes.

JDBlazer454's 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Future mods include sidepipes, chrome rocker moldings, Torque Thrust II wheels, headliner, carpet, weatherstripping, front spoiler, tinted windows, autometer guages with an aluminum bezel, Hurst piston grip Quarter stick, big block with possibly a blower or NO2. My hopes are to make a Baldwin Motion "clone".

JDBlazer454's 1970 Chevrolet Camaro This is how she looked when we brought her home last June. Not a real pretty site with mismatched wheels, bald tires, interior completely missing, and new paint not even cut and buffed yet.

JDBlazer454's 1970 Chevrolet Camaro This rear end shot shows how someone without painting knowledge can mess up deck stripes (pssst...they aren't supposed to go under the bumper).

JDBlazer454's 1970 Chevrolet Camaro The L88 fiberglass pin on hood before I added some outline to the deck stripes.

JDBlazer454's 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Here is the hood after a few minutes spent with red pinstripe tape. Amazing the before and after and how it added just that little extra something and made them look more original.

JDBlazer454's 1970 Chevrolet Camaro An interior shot. The seats were replaced with newly recovered 77 seats. The rest of the interior is original with the exception of my temporary carpet.

JDBlazer454's 1970 Chevrolet Camaro The rear seats and my temporary felt covered cardboard package tray.

JDBlazer454's 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Finally an 307 engine shot. Sorry for the poor quality but with the sun that day and in a canvas garage its hard to get a good picture.

JDBlazer454's 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Here is the rear end after we redid the paint on the rear. We did the black around the tail lights like an SS look because black is easier to match then red and more forgiving.

JDBlazer454's 1970 Chevrolet Camaro *update* We just got our sidepipes on and oh boy is it low. We now have to redo all the suspension to get it up off the ground. There is only 1" between the ground and the pipes.

JDBlazer454's 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Up close shot, 3" diameter pipe.

JDBlazer454's 1970 Chevrolet Camaro Update!!!! Well she has a new motor in it until we get a 427 and get it ready. This is just a temporary step so we can at least enjoy her a little. Our 77 chevy p/u donated its 350 small block for this (truck was beyond help but it ran awesome!!).

JDBlazer454's 1970 Chevrolet Camaro We are also taking off the sidepipes until the rest of the car is ready for it (ie rebuilt suspension, better rims, and the 427). We want it to sound and outwardly look as mean as those sidepipes are. We got 2.5" pipe with Flowmaster 40 series original flows, h pipe, and 45 degree dumps behind the tires. Sounds really good :)

Really nice car.Is that the original color ?If so,is it Cranberry Red (paint code #75)? My 70 was originally painted the Cranberry, I have no clue what color red it is now.I'm trying to find pics of a camaro in Cranberry since I need to repaint mine and might want to redo it in original color.

I Love it!, My 70 is very much like yours. I may paint my L88 like yours after I get a new L88 hood. But I may leave the center solid red? Mine has a hole cut in it and its cracking near the window :( I need to remove my 1/2" carb spacer and maybe change filters after I get a new hood. You could also upgrade to 15" or larger wheels to help with ground clearence with those pipes? I really like the look of it as it is thou! Nice Ride Man!!!
