This astounding 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible is flat out the nicest restored Mustang we've seen in a very long time. This gorgeous "A Code" Mustang has been driven less than 100 miles driven since an every nut & bolt, no expense spared, rotisserie restoration was performed in late 2006. Finished in a perfect application of Silver Blue, with a Silver & Blue Luxury/Pony Interior, this is a loaded car, with all of the right options and features. Let's start with the original data plate, which is present, and located on the driver's side door. Body code 763 equates to Convertible/Luxury Interior. Color code Y equals Silver Blue body color. Trim code 62 translates to Blue & White Luxury trim. Axle code 1 reflects that this Mustang came standard with a 3.0 gear ratio Standard Axle. Trans code 6 equates to C-4 3 speed Automatic Transmission. The warranty code proves that this Mustang was built at the Dearborn plant (March, 1965) and is a coveted A code car, meaning it came with the 289, 4 barrel engine. This Mustang was designated for DSO 22, which is Charlotte, NC. There is evidence that this was also a
special order car. The Mustang spent most of its life in the sunny & dry Carolinas, before being purchased by a Washington State buyer. In 2006, this Pony was treated to the complete restoration, resulting in the dazzling work of art we see today. I can't say enough about the body on this Mustang. We've had dozens of Mustangs over the years. The panel gaps, panel fit and body alignment on this car is second to none. Every body panel on this car is perfectly straight, and the underside is just as nice as the top. The Mustang was refinished in the correct Silver Blue, using a Dupont base coat/clear coat enamel. We don't know for sure how much wet sanding went into this car, but our expert eyes tell us it was more than normal. The paint is like glass, and free from any visible defects. Every painted surface is perfectly refinished and this Mustang truly looks better than showroom new. Every piece of chrome and stainless steel trim on the car is also perfectly refinished and perfectly aligned. From the grill to the windshield
trim, to the chrome gas cap, every metal surface gleams and glistens. This Mustang
defines the words "show stopper"!. The trunk was also expertly refinished and is correctly finished, with a correct spare and jack. Every piece of glass was replaced with correct date coded glass, and is absolutely perfect. A new white convertible was installed, after the convertible top frame, rails and mechanisms were blasted and refinished. The power top operates flawlessly, and fits very nicely. A new convertible top boot is present as well. The high point (at least for me) of this car ISN'T the body, it's the stunning silver & white interior. Features include: Luxury/Pony bucket seats; center console; wood steering wheel; wood grain dash; 5 gauge instrument panel; Rally-Pac gauges, and perfectly restored surfaces everywhere you look. The interior is breathtaking in its simplicity and functionality. Present are newly covered seats, new door panels, new carpeting, restored dash, restored console, restored gauges, new window cranks, new door handles, new sill plates and new knobs. Also present is a correct and original factory air conditioning unit, which is restored and operates perfectly. All instrumentation works properly to boot. This Mustang came loaded with additional features: power steering; exhaust tips; power brakes; auxiliary lamps, and; factory air conditioning. All mechanical components, including the suspension, front power disc brakes, rear drum brakes, exhaust, front suspension and, rear suspension are completely restored or brand new. Under the hood lurks an original and correct 289 A code, 4 barrel engine, newly rebuilt and restored to stock specifications. The engine starts immediately, purrs like a kitten while at idle, and has a nice kick when you feather the gas pedal. Also present is a correct C-4 3 speed automatic transmission, also newly rebuilt & restored. Power gets to the ground via the original Standard Axle, with a 3.0:1 gear ratio. Present are correct replacement 14" Mustang wheels with center caps, and brand new B F Goodrich Radial T/A's, P205/70/R14 both front and back.
