THIS IS MY 1963 BUICK WILDCAT
"SERGEANT MAJOR"
I bought this car to restore, and it's my first attempt at such a big project. The Wildcat was originally part of the Invcta line, but in 1963 it became a line of cars in its own. The Four Door Hardtop was one of three models built. There were 17,519 made. Some of the accessories on this car are power brakes, power steering, power front bench seat with 6 way tilt adjuster, Sonomatic AM Radio, Trip Odometer, power windows, and automatic trunk release. This is a numbers matching car including the engine block.

The Cat has a 123" (10 feet 3 inches) wheelbase and is 215" (17 feet 9 inches) long.

Original Interior. A few spots need work, but that will have to wait until the paint and body work are finished. Some of the standard equipment is electric clock, automatic trunk light, instrument panel safety pad, carpeting, dual horns, custom padded cushions. Accessories for the interior are the floor mats, tissue dispenser, seatbelts, and visor vanity mirror. I had to add the Primier Stereo system and Focal Speakers(6X9) in it...AM radio just wasn't cutting it.

Engine before and after some paint and rebuilt Carter AFB 4BBL carburetor. I've had the original exhaust sytem replaced with 2 1/4" pipe and Flowmasters. The power brake booster, was also rebuilt. This engine was the begining of the Big Block Buick "Wildcat" engines (Nailhead), with 445 ft. lbs. of torque and 325 horsepower, and 401 cubic inches. It still runs strong, with plenty of power to spare. Max speed that I've run it at was 115 MPH.

Just messing around with the Air Cleaner Cover.

The strip down process in the paint and body shop. They have replaced the rusted parts with sheet metal, and taken it down to the bare metal. The paint was very thin as it was original. I took the headliner out and will replace it.Then it will be two weeks putting the chrome back on.

In primer. It's getting there. About two more weeks and I'll have it back. Hopefully I'll get it all together for the car show in late June.

Paint Process. The door jambs and the inside of the trunk lid. At this point, they called me to ensure what colour of paint I wanted. Stewart the manager wanted to make sure that it was as close to original as possible.

Finally!! Paint!! Here's how it looks with a great paint job. Four more coats of clearcoat to go on. It can't be the same car that went into the shop almost a month ago. Great Job MAACO of Lacey WA
