This page is dedicated to my newest project - a 1991 Ford Escort Pony.
When I purchased the car for $950, it had about 131,000 miles on the original motor and transmission, 13" steel wheels without hubcaps, and no speakers!
True "Pony" models were only produced for one year in this generation of Escorts - 1991. It was what Ford called the bare-bones "base" model.
My car does not have power steering, anti-lock brakes, airbags, or rear defrost... It has manual windows and locks, rear drum brakes, and did not come with a spoiler. As a result of all these extras not being present, it's the lightest Escort produced in this body style, and therefore a good starting point for a performance project.
This is my favourite old photo of the car. Below it is how the car will look in June, 2008 after it has been painted (lowering may come some day).
