 The Storie....R.I.P Talon

This is my newest project, its a 98 Eagle Talon TSI AWD. I bought it on 3/22/08. I Plan on redoing the whole car, engine and body. I have a spare 7 bolt 4G63 down my basement just in case something happens. The car came with a new OEM head, 17' wheels, and turbo, but then I found out the turbo was shot. When I got the car It had a hard time starting and idling. It seemed like it was out of time but then I found out my injectors head seals were missing. When I changed them It ran great but then It started leaking oil. It looked like it was coming out of the front case and plus the turbo had a lot of shaft play even tho the kid told me it was brand new. So then I decited I had to pull the motor out. And The Project Begins here......

When I first went to see it.... I picked it up for $1,900

I decited to re-do the whole motor stock. I took the crank and pistons to SlowBoyRacing so it could get balanced. I bought the balance shaft eliminator kit to get rid of them balance shafts. I put ARP main studs, All new ACL main and rod bearings, painted my water pump pulley cherry red, got rid of the complete AC set up including the condenser. The head is just brand new cause when I bought the car the kid just put a brand new OEM head. It has all new seals and gaskets.. what can I say, I enjoy doing it

9/2/08 I bolted up my tranny to the motor. I also set everything on the motor mounts so I wouldnt have to lower it to the tire underneath the engine bay like I had it on monday 1. So far everything is going good, everything looks good but I still got a few things left to do

9/3/08 I got the starter all bolted up and then I went on and pluged all the sensors and vaccum lines. I still gotta install my turbo and hook other things up to get it started.

9/4/08 I changed my passenger door since it was all rusty. I also got the intercooler bolted up. I got the passenger side head light on too.

my420a's 1998 Eagle Talon

9/6/08 I installed my boost gauage, my grandpa was fixing the passenger side quarter panel and dents. once thats all fixed up I can go ahead and install my side skirt.

9/7/08 I hooked up my boost, oil , and air&fuel gauges.

my420a's 1998 Eagle Talon

9/10/08 I installed my passenger side A arm as well as the knuckle. I also painted my whole drive shaft black then I installed back on. I got my Transfercase in too. I replaced my hatch too cause the one was too rusty.

 my420a's 1998 Eagle Talon

9/12/08 I took both of my axles down the machine shop to get new threads since they were a little beat up.

9/14/08 I started priming the whole car black, so far the whole thing is black except for the drivers side fender. I changed the hood and driver side door. My friend showed up at my house and I had him weld me a new radiator support since the one that was on the car was rusted bad. I also put my door cap on the drives side.

my420a's 1998 Eagle Talonmy420a's 1998 Eagle Talon

the readiator support all done, needs a little paint

 my420a's 1998 Eagle Talon

9/15/08 I painted my radiator support and installed the passenger front side suspension and axle. I also put my bumper support on. so far its looking better. I changed the door handle and fixed my window on the drivers side door.

9/16/08 I finally got all the suspension all together. So I threw the wheels back on I put her back on the ground. I still gotta get my turbo, exhaust, interior, bumper and a few other things.

my420a's 1998 Eagle Talonmy420a's 1998 Eagle Talon

 I need a turbo!!!

my420a's 1998 Eagle Talonmy420a's 1998 Eagle Talon

9/17/08 I primed my drivers side fender and primed the bumper. I bolted up the fender but I still gotta bolt up the bumper. I also got the turbo for it, a good friend of mine justin gave it to me so Im hoping to have it running by this sunday or sometime next week.

my420a's 1998 Eagle Talon

9/18/08 I got the turbo in but I still need to put my oil feed line and return line. and I need my  O2 housing. so im probably gonna have to pull it back out to install my O2 housing.

my420a's 1998 Eagle Talon

Its only a T25, I didnt wanna drop too much money into the car so this will do the job

my420a's 1998 Eagle Talon

9/20/08 I got my radiator in, intalled my oil feed and return line. got my intake, and little shit in the motor. I also vaccumed the hatch. got the fuel pump in, etc

9/21/08 Im gonna say today was a pain in the ass. I got all my fluids in, and today was the start up day. Well the car started up fine but then I realized I was leakin oil again. It looked like it was coming out of the front case  and thats why I pulled it out in the first place. well I was pissed the hell off. The car was runnning very smooth but it was leaking oil. So then My grandpa finds the leak after a little while. I was coming out of my cam seals. well I went to autozone and got the seals. took everything apart and the head didnt even have the seals in. The kid I got the car off of didnt put the cam seals in the new head so thats why this happened. He told me it had a new head so I figured all the seals and everything were new so I didnt even bother checking the head. After changing them and retiming the car I got it running again, but this time it didnt leak anything. I was a good feeling seeing it run smooth as hell. I cant wait till I drive this thing on the road, it gonna rip for a stock car hahaha.

my420a's 1998 Eagle Talon

The car will stay primered flat black for a while. Im not sure if I wanna paint it since I still want to put money into my 95 GSX.

my420a's 1998 Eagle Talonmy420a's 1998 Eagle Talon

9/25/08 I got the drives side sideskirt installed. I also got the HKS exhaust out of my orange car installed on the talon. the down pipe has a hole so I gotta either order a new one or have someone fix the leak.

10/6/08 I took the talon to my friends garage so he could fix my down pipe. It has a leak so im replacing it. The car ran awesome, it boosted good and pulled awesome.

my420a's 1998 Eagle Talon

I ended up selling the Talon, it went around till it got parted it out in the end after like 6 people owned it after me. thats what It looked like after I sold it, and I just saw it at Nate's house all gutted. that made me sad

10/25/09

Went to pick up some parts for my white Talon TSI and I knew this guy that had my old black Talon for a while. He parted it out and this is what it looked like when I was down there. He said it will be gettin crushed very soon, not sure when but I figured I would snap some pics of it.
