UPdates for now

Having to make a WAI of sorts for it now or trying to(last weekend of april)seems my air intake hose is rotted out on bottom & I have had to remove it till i get my pipe for the WAI made, then will be using it with end pieces from stock air intake hose to fit it between airbox & TB.ok still haven't got to do this yet as of (may 5th, 2008), life has got in there & put it's self first so little things like this have had to wait, I am running an open throttlebody but it is filtered, has a doubled over piece of mesh t-shirt material put over it & clamped tightley in place so nothing chunky gets in there....i hope this weekend (note i hope) to get the part to fix it with, located a complete 91 Z-24 cavalier in an obscure out of the limelight wrecking yard almost no one knows about & he said he would sell me all the parts i want off that car, yeah!! i have found my body kit & hood & the intake i want, so i am going to get the intake this weekend I hope (z-24 intake is a factory WAI on non z-24 models) & then get the hood & have functunal cowl induction on my car... YeaH BabY!!!!! then get the side skirts & front & rear bumper & I am set ... then i can start sanding & priming the car...while saving up for my new black convertible top :)car will be red with black top, looks dead sexy compared to red with a white top :)

New Sub for the trunk....put in at beginning of april, Lanzar Max 10 ST, 10inch sub, in box shown...not a big enough box for the sub, built a L slot ported box for it spec'd to the sub,Finished it to a point of useability lastnight & installed it(April 24th, 2008) Tuned at 35hz OMFG!!!! what a difference, pics comming soon.
with the amp mounted securely
new dash speakers....Lanzar 2 way 3.5's put in at beginning of the month of april...Made a HUGE difference in sound.

Here is a couple of pics from my phone of the new sub & enclosure I built for the sub. Still need to buy material to cover the box with to have box 100% finished.

here are some pics of the amp i am using... this little amp is a thumper... bought it on ebay with shipping, 25.00 yeah.... great price for a small killer MTX amp.... makes my 1 sub POUND!!!

Bobbersrule's 1991 Pontiac Sunbird here is the spec sheet on the amp...
200 watts RMS at 4 ohm, 600 watts peak.Yeah babY!!!!

here is a pic of the sub I am using, it's a Lanzar Max 10 SVC 4 ohm sub, made for small enclosures... was recommended to me by a guy i met on www.j-body.org, now he knows his stereo stuff.... he also recommended my dash speakers which are also Lanzar, VX320 3.5 2 way dash speakers, here is a pic of them also.the 1 sub & 2 dash speakers with shipping from www.allaudioexpo.com was 69.00 & change.

ok for a recap, 1 amp for sub, 1 sub & 2 dash speakers
94.00.
cost of bulding the box...
3/4 mdf was given to me, enough to build the box, so all i bought was the screws to screw it together with & the liquid nails to seal it together with & seal it up with & the caulking gun... that was like 8.00

so for 102.00 (close enough) i have a killer sub & amp in my car along with killer dash speakers.
also my initial purchase of my head unit...
that was 79.99 plus tax, made it like 85.00
my car already had good 6X9's in back side panels, which i have a 2 ch amp to still hook up on them to drive them better than my head unit does.

here is a pic of the head unit

ok so thats like 187.00 in a killer stereo

I came into a parkinglot of the resteraunt my wife & I work at on the weekends running Karaoke & this guy was like dang your bumping, what do you have in the trunk & when i showed him he was like, thats all & it was bumping that hard.... DANG!!!

i (smilled to myself) & was like yeah baby thats the satisfaction statement i needed to feel good about what I got :)

The guy on Jbody.org (Lanman) also helped me design my box for my sub.... it's a L Port ported enclosure tuned at 35HZ, man it made my sub come alive!!!!
here is a screen shot of the box dimensions & volume & all that stuff.

box is 14 inches high, 20 inches deep & 19 inches wide
told you, a small enclosure, that takes up alot of trunk space in a convertibles trunk. Wife seems to be bothered by the fact that it has made the trunk almost useless to put groceries in. :)

***5-30-2008 Update***

ok 2 or 3 weeks ago I found a factory under dash box with ashtray for my car at the lockal pick u part wrecking yard. I was happy, bought it, it has the ash tray in it.. (my car didn't have the ash tray or the box) well I finally got the box modified & this past weekend i got my head unit installed into it & the box installed in my car & it looks sooooo much better, like it came from the factory that way. below are pics.

Looks so much cleaner & like it was meant to be like that huh?
:)

now a little bit of a further update...I previously stated at the top of this page that i was making my own intake...well that didn't fly...but i did get lucky...I was in need of a TPS & a IAC for my engine & Ran across a guy in Manatoba (thats in canada)that was going to the junkyard & he grabbed me a good TPS & a IAC there & he had a WAI (warm air intake) for sale... well to cut a long story short, i bought the intake, the TPS & the IAC from him for what everyone would consider a GREAT DEAL!!!, so tomorrow 5-31-2008 I will be installing the TPS, the IAC, And the WAI on my car.
further further update
my transmission started acting up 2 weeks ago & all I could think was OH F'N great I have to replace or rebuild my tranny, but decided with some great advise from people on both J-Body.org & V6Z24.com to do a fluid & filter change on my tranny.
well last saturday I did the do to my tranny (man was that fluid nasty looking) seems that more than likely the fluid & filter had never been changed on the car in 17 years (145,000 miles) well after doing the do to the tranny I am here to report the trany is back to like it should be & working well.

well when i get the TPS & IAC installed & get the WAI installed i will have more pics to put on here.including better radio installed pics :)
for now enjoy what i have put up today :)

New Update Pics are here....on Page 3.....enjoy :)

yea i have heard that the tornado is not worth the money plus i would have to put some extra work into it for it to get the power i want from it. So i dont think im putting that in but i am looking for alternatives. Thanks for checking out my ride and if you have any more ideas let me know. Great ride by the way cant wait to see the mods you put on.

Great potential. I love the drop tops. If you have any issues with the car give me a shout. I know these cars inside and out.

HEY! sorry it took soo long for me to answer, i dont check this thin very often.... but yeah, i got this car about 2 years ago with a tree through the windsheild, and the interior was all brown except for the gauges, and the plastic parts on the dash, i could only find gray seats that would fit it tho! after i went to all the trouble of re-upholstering the interior in brown..... i got all the fabric from Walmart clearance... haha... thats why it is a patchwork interior. and i really dont care what kind of bodykit i get, i just want something to lower the profile a bit..... and a word of advice, the convertible tops are REALLY challenging. i got mine from Kee Auto Tops, and it came with NO instructions, so flying blind, it took me a good while to figure it out
