Tire stretch is out, fat tires are in. Get with the times!
I just got new General AltiMAX HP tires. They measure 215/60/R15 so they are wider than my previous ones. I found out (too late) that stock tires were 195/60/R15 not 195/65/R15 like my last set so my speedometer is a hair slow. Miraculously, they don't rub when turning, just a little bit if you hit a bump or come out of the bottom of a valley). Excuse the dirty wheels in the pics.
A taste of just how wide these tires are. Pic on the left shows how they poke out the front wheel well.
In my opinion, it's a pretty cool tread pattern.
UTQG Ratings:
Tread: 440. Traction: A. Temperature: A. Load/Speed:94H
They were rated superior in wet, dry, and comfort categories and excelent in winter/snow categories.
SNOW SHOES!
I found a pair of Nokian WR winter-ish tires in the tire recycle pile in the back of the shop that I work at. They look like they were only used for a season and are in really good shape. Hopefully these will make this winter less frustrating than the last. They are 195/65/R15, so they'll be narrower than the back, but I can't really complain about free tires.
