Newest Jeep. 1982 Jeep J10 126,371 miles. 258 I-6, 999 Auto, NP208, Dana 44 selectable front, AMC 20 Rear, 2.73 Gears, Open Diffs. Truck runs and drives. It is pretty solid. It leaks oil and trans fluid. The transmission doesn't hesitate, shifts firm, brakes and 4wd work great. Noticed fluctuating oil pressure and pulled sending unit and it was bad because I checked it with a mechanical gauge. Oil pressure still fluctuates slightly, so I changed the oil. The oil was black, but I didn't see any metal in it. Also cut open the filter and it was gunked full of sludge. Following the filter change it cranks up at 45lbs and idles warm at 20lbs of pressure. Still think the pan needs to be dropped and cleaned out. Think the oil pressure problems are due to sludge caking on oil pump screen after engine heats up a little. It may be the bearings, but I didn't see any metal! Body is pretty good, small dents and dings, very little rust, all of the glass is good with no chips or cracks. Emblems and side moldings have been removed.
