My mother NEVER knew about this blue 1963 Starfire !
Back in the Fall of 1988 (Octotber I think), I aquired a rusty, non -running,holes inthe gas tank, #6 condtion 1963 Starfire convertible. It was black with maroon intreior,no a/c , but had a rare dual rear view mirrors. In JAn of 1989, I foolish traded on two 1968 Olds Toronado parts cars.
The fellow Oldsmobile buff from NH, fixed the frame, then sold it to his Olds buddy Carl Newton (who also happened to be the former owner of this Cirus blue 63 Starfire. He died in 2000 of heart failer , at age of 62), then Carl sold it to somebody in Long Island, NY
1963 Starfire with 52,000 mi. VIN # 636A02023 .
My Dad got it in early Jan of 1989(the last week or two when Ronald
Regan was president). Only 15-18 miles have been put on the car since he has owned it(parking lot miles). The motor is a 394 V-8 with 345 horsepower, 10.5 to 1 compression. Please note the original headliner. The car was bought in Jan of 1989 in Gonic ,NH.
Optiosn this cars has is a/c, power windows, and galsspacks (Yes folks, glasspacks was an option for Starfires!). I knew this car was hit in the front quarter before Dad bought it.
Intresting enough, the Wedgewood blue 1963 Starfire hardtop, (that owned from Aug 10, 1963 to Sept of 1965 ( traded on a tan 1965 Stafire convertible, almost bought a then , "new" 1966 Toronado)), that Dad had, was hit by a running deer in, Naples, Maine, back in 1964. The darn deer was 165 lbs dressed.
Oddly, this Starfire does not have power seats, comman on Starfires.
In Oct or Nov of 1995, the Olds was hit again by a MB medium-duty(Class B job) mail truck, You Guess IT, on the left front quarter(car was stationary, in a ajasonant bay). What ticked me off the da was going through bladder cancer treatment (it is a smokers cancer - and NONE of us in my family smoke).
In 2007 a electricon ingtion was installed, and the carb rebuilt in 2006 or 2007.
Dad owned this car for 19 years and 7 months.
This car was sold in July of 2008. If it was not for the fact, my loan on the red 68 Toronado is not paid off yet, I would of helped my Dad out in a heartbeat, and bough the Starfire.
Sometime betwen July 2008 and Januray of 2009, the Starfire got new brakes, tach and windshield wipers working. Plus (key thing to know) the 394 motor was DETAILED! NOT REBUILT!
I wonder if the new owner knows that the left front side has been hit twice(last time in Oct of 1995, go tthe hood too), AND the 394 V-8 engine has CRACKED PISTON SKITS the gas tank STILL leaks to this day (Sat , March 14th, 2009)?
