OKAY SO YOU'RE HERE!!! And if your not a Maxima enthusiast you are probably asking yourself, "Why is this kid modding a Maxima?" I'll give you a quick rundown. At 17, I hit a telephone pole at an estimated 110mph. You can see pics of my car under "favorite links" at the top. So after this I did not have a car for 4 months because I was scared to drive. I bought an Explorer Sport and drove that for about 8 months before I realized I hated trucks and I needed to be in a car again. I did not want to get into a small car again like my Integra and I love driving stick...never been a fan of auto so how many choices are there? Out of decent sized cars with 5spd, the Maxima was the only affordable/good option.

After driving my car for about 3 months or so I heard somewhere that 5spd Maximas are supposed to be decently quick stock. So I decided to go to the 1/4 mile track for shits and giggles. While there,I ran two 15.0s my very first time racing a car. I also got to meet a couple fellas that were on Maxima.org and they asked me if I was on "THE ORG" and if I had a y pipe....I was like "What the hell are these guys talking about?"---haha.

After checking out Maxima.org I became hooked. Presently I have put alittle over 2 grand in my car all together. I love it and I hope you like it too.

Who has the fastest Maximas online??? CLICK HERE. Check out number 26.

Fastest Sedan in the world??? ummm yeah! I would say so....

Heidi Klum ran away with the last poll. Out of all the women I listed she got 40% of the vote. I agree. she is bonetastic. hehe.

Check out the links under friends. Some of the people I have met over car forums and others I just have
to give mad props to. They are mostly modded Maximas.

I got this from Nightrider.com and I thought it was pretty cool:
"The Nissan Maxima is considered one of the most refined cars out on the road today. It combines luxury with outstanding performance in all aspects. Born with true "race car" heritage in mind, Nissan set forth to accomplish what no other car designer has yet acheived. To build a car with everything the buyer wants at a price the buyer can afford; Making it the best "bang-for-the-buck" car out there. Today, the Maxima plays a vital part in the import performance scene. With its moddest yet striking looks, it is often underestimated, which makes this car the perfect sleeper."

WOW!!

"Ask us, and we'll tell you how the Maxima SE will whip the Integra GS-R, and Taurus SHO. It'll
stomp the normally aspirated 300ZX, and drivers of automatic-transmissioned 300ZX Turbos best not be snoozing when the light goes green. This demure-looking family car is the quickest Japanese sedan available in the States." --Motor Trend, Road Test, June 1994

Since 1995, Maxima has been known for its smooth V6 engine. Its 3.0 litre powerplant, part of the VQ engine series, has been named one of the "10 Best Engines" by Ward's Auto World for seven consecutive years. Ward's editors have written that it is "simply, the best V6 engine available in America."

MY PERFORMANCE MODS:

Warpspeed Y Pipe
This should be the first mod for any Maxima. It eliminates two pre-cats and is dyno proven to give about 13-19 front wheel horsepower. All that for 200 bucks, not bad at all. The pre-cats are only used when the car is warming up. After that your main cat does all the work of keeping emissions all good. So it ain't that bad for the enviro or I wouldn't have done it. If you have a Max don't gut out or get a "race pipe" for your main cat. You wont pass emissions and only gives 1 hp or so.

Jim Wolf Pop Charger with Place Racing Midpipe
WAI with velocity stack. In my opinion best intake available for the Maxima. Costs $100 and probably gives about 5 wheel HP.
12/1/03: Just got a PR midpipe to replace my homemade one. I noticed it changed the sound of my intake. At lower RPMs I don't hear my intake as I did when it was homemade. At higher RPMs I think its a bit louder than my homemade setup. This should have zero affect on my ETs, just sound.

Summer '02: WITH only the intake and y pipe my car hit 14.63 in the quarter mile. Not bad for $300 in mods.

Brembo Disc Brakes
Nothing too special. Just some factory size Brembo blanks.

ACT Street Modified Clutch, Stage 1.
I bought my car with 80k on the original clutch, 11k miles later it was gone. Bought the ACT because it was only about 50 bucks more than OEM and should last longer.

10/19/03: After 15k miles on the ACT clutch I blew my transmission. This was a combination of driving habits and the extreme stress the ACT puts on the transmission when it engages. The ACT is a great clutch just not made for a stock Maxima transmission. I do NOT recommend that anyone with a Maxima buy this clutch. If you drive hard be prepared to replace your transmission.

OBX stainless-steel catback
Costs $300=WOW...very good buy for the money. Hopefully added about 5-8 wheel HP. Did add an awesome deep tone to my car. Doesn't sound like a fart can or rice at all. I think with the intake and exhaust my car sounds somewhat muscle car like under WOT. More info on page 5.

Definitive Motorsports Underdrive Pulley
As of early May 2003 I think only about 20 or so have ever been made by the company. They are testing their market. From what I know it has to be the best on the market. It is slightly lighter than the Unorthodox Pulley and is cheaper as well. Freed up about 8hp I believe. 1st gear winds out faster and I think it should help bring down my 60 foot times with practice. Click my link "Ready to mod your Max" and look for contact info.

My Maxima's ESTIMATED times
now // before

0-30 mph 2.00 s // 2.10 s
0-40 mph 3.50 s // 3.70 s
0-50 mph 4.60 s // 4.90 s
0-60 mph 5.94 s // 6.70 s
0-70 mph 8.30 s // 8.70 s
0-80 mph 10.40 s // 10.80 s
0-90 mph 12.70 s // 13.40 s
0-100 mph 15.60 s // 17.70 s

Don't know how accurate these are. I took them from cars with similar 0-60 and 1/4 mile times.

TRIPS TO THE TRACK and UPDATES....

Mods at time: intake, y pipe, clutch.

I HIT 14.66 with a 2.4, 60 foot. The 2.4 was a combination of so-so track conditions and me still getting used to my clutch. I usually hit 2.2s therefore I think 14.3 is reachable with my present mods in GREAT conditions. Not going to know till summer though most likely.
After MEVI and ECU the Max should be a consistent low 14 sec car.

April 2003: I am going to be at ATCO a bunch this summer. Not only to race but I really enjoy talking to people about their cars and watching others race. My friend Rudy just hit 14.05 in his Max at Atco and he doen't got that much done. I think as far as power mods all he has on me is an ECU. No exterior mods whatsoeva........can you say SSSSSSSLEEEPER?

5/14/03:
1st and only time to track with all present mods.
NEW BEST 14.599@94.84mph. I need a tuneup and humidity was high at 86%. I was told that the humidity is no good for ET. I dont know. I think KiP still has some reserves. I have not been to the track enough times since I put on my exhaust, UDP, and clutch. With my new mods I think 14.3 should happen soon.

6/8/03:
WORST DAY AT THE TRACK EVER!! Click here for the story. I think I will be spending time at Englishtown Raceway for awhile. Atco has pissed me off!

6/25/03:
First time to Etown Raceway. It was an interesting night. Only got 2 runs in and they were both 15.0s. The track conditions weren't great at all.

I got both my runs from this day on tape. This is a cool website so make sure you check out other things besides my vids!! [http://www.ceasarschariot.com/]

My RT is getting sick. I hit .606 on my first run(i wasnt totally ready) and .525 on my second run. THATS .025sec off a perfect time!!!!! I think that is awesome. I think I will have to enter some bracket racing and see if I can win some money soon.

Not a great day for ETs but I did see a Skyline GTR(i think R33), an E46 M3, and a Viper run. I thought the quality of cars at the track was just too cool. There were some awesome rides besides these cars there. The Skyline and the M3 ran 14.2 bests and the Viper ran 12.9. So as you can see good times but nowhere near what those cars are capable of. Again not a great day for track conditions. Also at Etown I noticed an abundance of quality pussy which is not available at Atco. I was really shocked. Girls be showing up in white see thru pants and a BLACK thong with a bikini top. I mean WHO WEARS THAT to the dragstrip. Not saying I mind...hehe.

Also I got to weigh my car which I thought was cool. With me in the car I weighed in at 3150 pounds. I weighed 190lbs at the time so my cars weight at the track was 2960lbs. This was with VERY little gas(less than 1/8 tank), no wiper fluid in reservoir, passenger seat removed, spare, jack, and trunk carpeting removed. I kept my rear bench in and I have BOSE and had a huge CD binder in my car as well. I had no idea my car was that light. I thought that was killer for a 4 door sedan.

7/10/03:
GOT MY NEW WHEELS TODAY!!! Velox VX-6R. 17x7 and weigh 16lbs a piece. Can't wait to go to the track now.

11/9/03:
I just got my car back after it being down for 3 weeks. Took a while to find a transmission and where I wanted the work to be done. Basically the ACT clutch cost me $1600 in repairs. I now have a 2000(5th gen) Maxima 5spd transmission with '00 axles and a OEM clutch. Better believe I am going to be more careful with my new setup. Don't want to have to pay for this again. This doesn't mean I am going to stop racing but I will be doing it much more infrequently and not for a while from now.

Handling:

ADDCO Rear Anti-Sway Bar(my new favorite mod)
IF YOU DONT WANT TO MOD YOUR MAXIMA still buy this mod. Body roll in the corners is next to nil. Very cool compared with the boaty feeling I used to feel in the turns. Car now feels flat. Costs about $120.

Interior/Exterior:

2001 Anniversary Edition Maxima shift knob

Custom Two-Tone Italian Leather Shift boot, ebrake boot, and console lid

Sirius Sportster Satellite Radio Probably my favorite toy.

Diamond Cut Clear Corners
Make the front look MUCH better. about $40 and well worth it as you can see in the pics.

I LOVE THESE RIMS!!!The rims definitely help the Max look a lot less like a family hauler. These rims only weigh 16.5lbs a piece according to Velox and they look good as hell. Sport Compact Car actually weighed them at 14.4lbs. I have no idea why there is a discrepancy here. I weighed them when I got them on my scale. First I weighed myself and then I weighed me and the rim together. There was a 15lb difference. So I just say they are 15lb a piece. They look almost the same as SSR competitions. The tires are kickass. I have never had performance tires before and they are just awesome. With the RSB and tires I am sticking corners WAY better than stock. I also get compliments on them often for their tread design. about $100 a tire.

July 2004 Falken Ziex ZE512
New tires all around. Pretty freaking sweet...all season tires rated to 160+mph good grip so far...

Red/Clear Tails
Classy way to get rid of the orange in the tails. NO euros/altezza crap for me.

Maxima.org stickers
Normally I HATE stickers on cars...but who Modifies a Maxima??? I mean really...its pretty unique so as I see it... I GOTTA REPRESENT!!

Rewired Corners The lights on the outside of the headlights. My buddy Jake helped me with this one. Very easy...took about 5mins and made the bulbs get something like 28w instead of 8w. Makes the front look better in my opinion. Pics soon.

COMING SOON:

Front strut tower bar: Anyone got any recommendations?

KYB AGX struts
Adjustable to handle the drop of the B & G springs

Eibach springs or maybe B&G springs????cant decide
Eibach should give about 1.3-.4" drop and has better performance than B&G but the B&Gs have a 1.6"+drop that might be almost 1.8" Check out Clint's Max here with the B&G setup with stock rims.
Check out what Eibachs look like here.

NO $$ mods: rewired turn signals, rewired fogs, keyless beep mod...DO YOU KNOW anything else i dont know about?

i need an air horn too i think...so dumb shits dont cut me off anymore when i am cruisin on the highway

Homemade motor mounts
Should elimate wheelhop.

MEVI????
Not sure about this one yet. I am not sure that the gains are worth $700. It is a variable intake manifold. Does not add much peak HP but has been dynoed to add over 50 more HP across the RPM range from about 5000 rpm and up. The problem is you lose HP and TQ throughout the RPM range before 5000 rpm compared with stock.

ECU
Adds mid range grunt. Looking forward to it. Low 14s will hopefully be easy after this.

tint
Booya!!!

sub
BOSE needs alittle more bass for da gangsta shit

Stillen Aero Full Body Kit
In my opinion the only body kit that looks good on the Maxima. I can't wait to get it.

+1 secret project...shh!!! cant tell ya. I'll tell you its been done to cars before, but not many at all.
