I used to be ratfink72 till I sold the Chevelle last year. You can still check it out at http://www.cardomain.com/ride/318521

PAGE TWO: Motor and tranny progress - buddy has a 350 I might go after instead of using the 307...
PAGE THREE: Body work
Well - things change don't they? The green/brown blazer with the 2.8 just was not able to keep me going while I build the V8... here is the replacement:

It is a 1991 with 192,000 miles, 4.3 V6 that was rebuilt at around 160,000 miles. Transmission took a dump on my dad so I gave him the Corvette 700R4 build I had that you see on page two. He installed it (put a shift kit in it first) and then ended up selling it to me anyway!
Again, this one is a Tahoe, gonna need to be lowered a little bit. But I want to get the motor in it before I start on that, the new V8 will weigh more and will change the geometry of whatever I do now, right?
Oh, today I upgraded the big ugly chrome side mirrors to some later model sporty mirrors...
Here is the original Blazer:
Ever since I sold the Chevelle to make the move back to Miami I have been looking for a fun toy. I still have the 307 from the Chevelle and now I have a place to put it. I will start the build on the motor soon and put pictures.
These are the side views of the Blazer when we got it at the original owners house. The lady is 92 and she bought it used in 1989. She put 82,000 or so miles on it. Kids said no more driving, which is where I come in! It is a 2.8L with a weak 700R4. The motor barely ran when I got it. Barely got home. After changing the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, ign module and fuel filter... I finally cut an access hole in the bed and pulled the fuel pump to find the rubber hose that holds the fuel pump to the sending unit had a split in it! Replaced that and now it runs great!
Some interior shots the day I got it. I want to do a custom center console and remove the factory one and the ugly Walmart one!
Here it is at my place with the rims off of the Chevelle. I have been keeping them for a very good reason! They are period correct Cragers, 15x10 out back and 14x7 in the front, tires are 276/60 in the rear and 215/70 in the front. I want to cut the front springs and put lowering blocks in the rear... but I really need to wait till the 307 is in so I do not have to do it again later!
Some updated pictures: (my brother in law owns a car wash and started wet sanding and buffing it)
On hand I have ready:
-the 307 out of the Chevelle
-M/T valve covers for it
-700R4 Tranny from my Dad
-has the Corvette Servo and Chrome pan to it
-Gas struts for the hood I need to install
-Electric fan from a 2002 Mustang
I will update with more pictures as things get finished!
7/28/09 This Blazer had to be sold, the endless engine problems would not keep this truck running while I build up the new V8 - but do not fear - I replaced it with a 4.3V6 1991 Blazer - white with blue interior. I'll take pics this weekend!
The buld is back on!!
