Well....what can I say....WET and COLD. This is an account taken from the team site.
All went well at the Kart Enduro's and lessons were learned. Dean Liu and Ronald "Stringer" Roderick took home another 2nd place trophy for Team Hampton Roads. Paul Norris and Ronald "Stringer' Roderick were not as lucky on the kart draw but still managed to get a well earned fifth place finish. That makes 2 seconds and a fifth or the series for the team. Pretty good record heading into the next Enduro weekend in July. Wish we had another picture with the new trophy. Maybe Dean and Stringer can get together to make a press shot for the fans. Team FJR would also like to get the three guys together for a group shot with all the trophies won for memory sake for all.
Folis Jones completed his Instructor Certification Clinic and is now a Certified Instructor for NASA. We cant forget to mention we celebrated his 72nd birthday this weekend also. Although he did not get much track time this weekend due to the weather and an open cockpit car, he did get to scrub in the new Hoosier slicks and was very happy with them. His student this weekend was also driving a Birkin S3 and much progress was made in his development.
Ronald "Stringer" Roderick had many new experiences this weekend. New sway bars, Shaved RA-1's, Seats....etc....But we cant forget the rain. What happens with lack of experience and a cold wet track? Yep....you guessed it...Ronald "Stringer" Roderick had his first ever spin. We caught up with him after the session and asked him to give us an account of the event and this is what he said. "Man, I tell ya....I kinda wondered what Chuck was thinking but I figured what the heck. Around we went. Maybe if I had more experience that might work, but it was a great lesson for me regardless. This was the first time I spun out and it felt like it took forever and there was nothing I could do. I am glad that we were able to get the Glaze Communications Miata off line in a safe manor and continue on after a pit in to get checked out. Chuck has been such a great help to me this weekend and I cant thank him enough"
Doug Arcidino spent the weekend developing his H4 Honda Civic. He was overheard saying "I found this weekend a good chance to test out some of my primary setups and have learned a lot from them to prepare for the next event. I look forward to making a few adjustments and testing them at Roebling Roads in May."
Our very own Crew Chief, Jason Jedrey did a Hyper Drive Experience this weekend. Though he was led to think he was going to drive the Honda...Team FJR made secret plans to make things happen so that he could drive his very own Saturn for the event. Ronald "Stringer" Roderick donated a set of new Falken tires to him for a birthday present and with the help of Folis Jones paid the fee at the track to have his tires switched out so he could drive his Saturn for the event. With great luck, Folis Jones was his instructor and he had a very memorable time on track.
Paul Norris and Dean Liu also shared our paddock area and were great fun and provided great support and help on so many aspects of the weekend. Another Miata driver...Mark, getting qualified for his Comp License was a frequent visitor of our paddock. He did very well this weekend and was a great inspiration to Dean and Ronald. We found it very interesting the hear the "HPDE Student" telling of his findings to the "Competition Student" about what he has learned about the Toyo RA-1's and how they talk to the driver and are very responsive to driver input.

I got your back with 5***** for the UTCC. A friend of mine Eric Foss drives a miata (like it was stolen) He hold a faster time at Road Atlanta in his miata than the the Panoz cars do. He also took the playboy National SCCA championship. I never underestimate a Miata.... They just don't seem to slow down much for turns. Good luck and hope to See you at UTCC Cheers Kevin
