Well lets start off by introducing you to the previous owner and his accounts of the car.

Now on to the new creation known now as "Maxine" by many far and wide.
I bought a 1991 Miata early 2007 to use as a track car. Having never driven a miata before or ever driven anything on a track other then a go kart, needless to say I didnt know what I was getting into.
First event was Rockingham in 2007 with NASA-SE. I was a NASCAR fan so just being at the track was awesome for me...but, I also got to park in the garages and drive the track. At this time I had only had the car a couple of months and very nervous. Besides being on street tires
Needless to say..my first session on track was real slow. But I had an instructor switch and Ken started teaching me how to learn the limits of the car. Once I got a couple more sessions under my belt I started really picking up the pace as I started to understand the car.
Now we move to VIR North Course.
This is the track I got my first taste of on track time. George offered to take me out in his 350Z that we all know as "NiZmo" She is a beautiful 350Z with a nice burnt orange paint job. Not real sure what the color is called.
But this was the hook that I needed which led to the purchase of Maxine.
What can I say about VIR? Freaking awesome is wht I can say. North course is a lot of fun and fast. The cross over is a lot of fun and will teach you a lot about downforce. I was very fortunate to get Ken as an instructor again and we worked hard to learn how to be more aggressive in the turns and how to use the gas to keep the rear planted.
Roebling Roads with NASA-SE
Such a fantastic momentum track. I requested Folis to be my instructor this time as he has a wealth of knowledge of the track. This weekend I learned about trail braking and keeping speeds up to stay in higher gears.
My first session I let Folis drive Maxine to get a feel for her. After that we decided to try out a set of RA-1's. Nice and grippy. But I am very glad I ran street tires only before this so that I could learn car control.
More to come soon...
