I've been a huge fan of american muscle cars for years now. In February of 2007 I finally got one of my own, this 1972 Pontiac Lemans. it is currently March of 2008, and i'm finally gettin a start on workin on the car.
Modifications:
The only thing i've done up to this point is put on a brand new set of Cragar SS wheels.
I have a new full trunk floor ready to replace the original rusted out trunk. I don't have the equipment or would attempt to do it myself. so it's waiting on the body shop.
I also have a new 4-wheel disk brake conversion kit to replace the original 4-wheel drum brakes.
Engine:
The car has the same engine it had when I first bought it-what i was told was a chevy 350. one day i decided to get the vin number off the block and came to find out that it is actually the original numbers matching engine. The strange thing is that it actually is a chevy 350. I've been told that there were several years where GM had a "stockpile" of engines, and would occasionally swap engines, such as put a Chevy engine in a Pontiac. I guess thats the case here.
To my knowledge the engine hasn't been rebuilt. only dressed up alittle. it appears to be 100% stock, with a stock manifold and stock Rochester Quadrajet 4-barrel.
It really isn't running very strong, and smokes alittle. probably from worn out rings. I do plan on rebuilding this engine in the future. In the mean time I plan on pulling the 350 and replacing it with a 305 H.O., out of an 86 Monte Carlo SS. nothing special, just a fresh rebuilt engine to run until the 350 is rebuilt(probably to a 383 stroker).
I also have a Pontiac 400 that could be a possibility should I ever decide to put it in the car. (that was my plan, until i discovered the matching vin numbers)
