WELL THIS PROJECT IS NOW SCRAPPED. AFTER GETTING THE BUMPERS FIRST COATS OF PAINT ON WE LEFT IT OUT TO DRY ON OUR HOT TUB. IT STAYED THERE OVER THE WEEKEND, AND WHILE WE WERE AT OUR LAKE THE CITY HAD A STORM AND THE WIND KNOCKED IT AROUND. ALL THE FIXED CRACKS WERE RE-OPENED AND ALL FILLED BODYLINES WERE CRACKED.

WHY I'M WORKING ON A 'NEW' BUMPER

paint chipping and crack ........also the license plate holes I mean they dont even line up right

KrankyZ24's 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier KrankyZ24's 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier
the biggest reason the big crack thanks to the former owner in the blizzard and scratches\

OPTIONS,OPTIONS,OPTIONS,OPTIONS,OPTIONS,OPTIONS, so many of them I guess thats why I have a POLL

cut out centre of the grill or just put mesh in behind

KrankyZ24's 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier KrankyZ24's 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier
cut off bottom lip and centre grill or keep grill and cut off lip

The First reason is the cracks on the original. Second reason is I can't really afford to buy an aftermarket or a new OEM bumper at this time. Third an after market one wouldn't last long in Saskatchewan's roads.

There's more cracks along the bottom of the bumper etc but you get the idea. Anyways my Dad's work was adding another floor to a car dealership. While he was leaving, what does he find behind the garbage in the dumpster but a yellow z24 bumper. So he took it home and we reinforced the few cracks that it has and filled them. With the major cracks fixed its now onto modding it. It's my first big project on the car so we'll see how it goes. Anyways I'm going to do most of the bodywork and then my dad's going to be painting it. The reason for this is we talked to Maaco gave them the situation, they want $250 just to paint it, not even primer for it which we said we'd do that so whatever. I would have said ok had they done the body work etc but I can go out and get a new OEM front bumper painted and shipped for that much so no thanks.

First off re enforced the back side of the bumper where the big cracks were with epoxy resin and steel plates, then it was onto the front filling in with body filler and sanding and body filler and sanding...

(

all of the areas still clean and yellow were sanded down to avoid chipping

gave it a quick spray with a black primer and found some more hairline cracks and then sprayed the good side with the proper paint

aw man, that's really shitty what happened. Looked like that car had a lot of time put into it too. The freezing rain is fun eh? Come out to your car in the morning for work and there be 2mm of ice over every square inch of the car. What is it that you have the old shifters center cap over? anyway, 5 stars man, sorry about the accident
