I have recently added a 70 Mercury Montego to the list. I Have been a HUGH fan of the 70-71 Ford and Mercury line-up. I have owned a few in the past, 70 Torino Cobra, 70 Spoiler, 70 Eliminator to name a few...I wish I still had them. I really thought that it would be no big deal to replace any of these cars in the future...What the Heck was I thinking...I have hugh sellers remorse daily:)...But at least I have had them in the past. I used to take the comp green eliminator, and the comp blue 4spd spoiler to car shows all the time, boy, was I a brat or what...Enough crying...
Well it ain't no Spoiler, but you know what, I LOVE THIS CAR...It's got a 302 with a ford aluminum 4v intake and holley 600, dual pipes, a/c, auto, and needs EVERYTHING:) It runs and drives, and most everything works, but it's seen better days...It's not that bad though. NO RUST ANYWHERE. I guess that's the reason for what I plan on doing to it. Since the car is already color changed from the factory C code (dark olive color) to the Electric Green Met (1999 Mustang sw code) I will keep this color, as this is a LOW BUCK driver resto. My plans are to fix some very poor body work, and repaint. Flat black the rear tail lights and panel. Rebuild all power steering components, all front end rubber, to poly, bushings and what nots. Heavy duty front springs, -1 coil. I will put 15x8 stock steel o.e.m. style rims color painted to match body, dog dish caps, 255/60/15 on all corners, 1 1/8 inch swaybar upgrade. I would like to put a factory wing and chin spoiler on it also, along with a Eliminator hood scoop, but I am not sure...I guess I will NOT put any chrome on it either, that stuff is hard to find, and the prices are insane. I will put the script back on though...I think that when I am done, it should look something like a base model Cyclone...It might not be the POWER house that the Cyclone is, but at over 3 bucks a gallon for gas, I kinda like the econo cruiser... It should handle like a BEAST:) More to come as I do stuff...

Gotta love it. I drove one in high school back in '82 & 83. If you ever come across my old VIN #0H16H515599 that was it and let me know; I'd love to know where it is these days. 5 stars for the memories.

Charlie Nice car! I really like the 70/71 Montegos and Cyclones. A ram air hood can be had foor $300 complete and they llok sharp! Spoilers are pricey. Wheel Vintiques sells wheels can be had in all sizes nd offset... I have 17'' rims from them on my car. Later Dan
