This is it when I first went to look at it.
This is my '59 Plymouth. I bought it a few years back for pretty cheap, it was sitting in a field. Someone started to work on it, then lost interest and pushed it outside. It came from Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada where its too cold to use road salt so the body is pretty solid as is the frame. I sold the Flathead 6/3spd. stick out of it to make way for the .030 over 360 4barrel/A518 (overdrive 727TF) combo that's goin in it. I hacked off the front of the frame and grafted an M-Body(Diplomat) front clip on it attached to new frame rails. So now it has transverse torsion bars, power steering, and power disc brakes. The engine/tranny lined up perfectly-like it was meant to be there. The rear end is an 8.75 that will have 4.10 posi gears. Still a long way to go--like paint, interior, stuff like that-but its coming along. I'll keep adding pics as I take them.
The day it came home. It looked worse than it is-the rust is just on the surface due to the sanding that was started before it was neglected in the field. No holes anywhere! The previous owner puttied up some dings instead of pushing them out. The trim was all in boxes in the interior, along with extras of things.
The old drivetrain- Canadian cars had the 251cube Flathead 6/3 spd stick. Its probably a few hundred pounds heavier than the V8/Auto combo that will power the old girl.
At my Dad's--front clip, rear end, and Super Stock springs installed.
The engine and tranny in for mock-up. Both are since rebuilt.
The Chrysler police wheels and late '60s "Plymouth Division" dog dish hubcaps that will go on it for that tough street warrior look. The rims will be painted body colour.
Here is the motor--Its a '74 block 360, bored .030 over, Speed Pro flat top pistons, Mopar 268/276 .429/.444 perf. cam, stock iron 4 barrel intake, "308" swirl port heads with stainless vales and Hi-Perf springs, Carter 850cfm ThermoQuad carb. The valve covers and aircleaner will be painted gold so it looks like the "Commando 395" engine. I'm still trying to find the correct air cleaner--they were only used in '59 on the Commando 395.
