April 08: Here we go... I finally made a deal on my dream van... a '64 Econoline! In order to make some room for the '64 to become my cool personal ride. I intend to sell my '85 Vandura Shorty and '85 Cavalier. That means you should watch my garage for updates on my projects! Primarily, I'll be finishing up the rust repair and bodywork to get them back into good shape for sale.

February 08: Day 1
As Is, body looks real good, only local rust spots to cut out and weld patches in before inspection. It's a "formerly custom" G20.
I thought it had these aluminum rims all the way around, but it is infact missing one. GEEZ!
Inside, it looks like the custom bench might have cause this corrosion problem on the floor by the wheel wells, because otherwise it looked real good underneath! The flooring has been ripped up, so I've got a clean canvas, and can easily see any necessary repairs!
Up front, the dash is clean, and I lifted up the doghouse to see the condition of the engine. I was told it's a V6, but it's actually a V8 and sounds good! Lots of vacuum lines, so it may be a 305, but I could read "350" on one of the valve covers, so I don't know... I'm going to try to get the casting number off the block. Underneath, the tranny looked like it may have had some leaks... It has a Quadrajet, A/C and I think it has a 12-bolt rear axle with a TH350. I'm told the powertrain is solid as it's last voyage was from Vancouver, over the Rockies to Saskatoon.
Checked the odometer... it's been a LONG TIME since I saw gauge in imperial units... this van has 15,743 miles on it... I don't know how many times it's been rolled over though. If the engine IS a 305, it may be original as I think it was equipped with that. But something tells me that someone swapped in a 350... There's also a Sony XPlod head unit in there! Bonus!
The price... It was a very good deal. Now, my mission is to tackle the rust holes so it will pass the out-of-province inspection, and get it registered as my other vehicles require more work before I can get them back on the road. There you go.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm a Niner fan, and this van looks like it will tastefully fit a new look featuring more gold paint... I'm feelin' "Gold Rush" eemerging from this van in the end, and have the perfect hop-up for it. Here's the concept I drew... the really bad looking stripes would be stylized pinstripes (or tribal) in Niner Red, Gold, Tan and White on the black paint. What do you think?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
More inspiration... I kinda like the paint scheme on this van... could do something similar to the G20 without messing with the base colour in the jambs...
This one has the browns, nice airbrushed mural, and cool grille treatment... What to do...
